AIBU to expect an oven to last longer then 2 years?

We purchased an Oven in Sept 22, the thermocouple went in April 24, they replaced it at the end of April this year. The 2 year warranty ended on the 22nd sept the thermocouple has gone again, less then 6 months after it was last replaced. So I called them on the 21st October to report this, however because it is now out of warranty they are saying they can't help. Apparently it's common for a thermocouple to need replacing on a regular basis? However our last oven we had for 15 years and never once had to have it replaced, is it common for a thermocouple to need replacing twice in just over 2 years with less then 6 months between the repair? Or should I keep pushing?
I'm pretty sure the oven was faulty from the beginning, however the house is old and drafty so we stupidly put the flame going out due to a possible breeze somewhere, it wasn't until it started happening more frequently and then fully stopped igniting all together in April this year that we realised the fault was with the oven. Unfortunately we can't prove the fault was there at the beginning but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect longer then 6 months for a thermocouple to last.
I'm maybe just over reacting due to the annoyance of it all but i do feel that an oven should last longer then a little over 2 years? It doesn't seem to have lasted a reasonable amount of time at all. 😏

Yanbu this poor quality for every thing is really starting to annoy me. I now have a special file where I keep all receipts and I take EVERYTHING back - sick of it.

An oven should last five fucking years. It's not even just about the money it's about the inconvenience of having to source another one, pay for it, stay home for it to be delivered, pay for installation, pay for disposal. Can you tell it annoys me! Blush

So yes, demand a refund. For everything not just the item .

Maybe check with Cab as I think there is a six year guarantee on products but how it works I'm not sure. Or check the MSE website.

The general rule of thumb under the Consumer Rights Act is approx 6 years for an appliance. We had similar with a washing machine, and were refunded on the basis of time left on the 6 years.

So I'm definitely not being unreasonable then?
Tbh their customer service assistant who I was emailing with yesterday was quite rude and accused me of "complaining" after the warranty had ended. That annoyed me even further 🙈

I'm not even fussed about a new one, I'd be happy with a repair that actually lasted 😏

Exactly, it's such a faff about! we was messed around with having it installed too, we had to wait almost a month with it sat in the middle of my kitchen because the fitter was unavailable. I certainly won't be purchasing anything from that store again nor will I purchase anything from this brand either.

YANBU that’s appalling. I’ll admit I’ve never bought an oven, all the houses I’ve lived in have already had one that just kept going. Current fan oven was in the house when we bought it 12 years ago, looked old then, looks old now, never had to do a thing to it other than attempt to change the clock every 6 months.

No I’d quote consumer law at them. The item is not fit for the purpose fit which it was intended.

Also point out that the part which has been replaced has failed in 6 months which is unacceptable (when my 17 year old dishwasher needed a new part the company guarantee the new part for 1 year so if it fails in that time they replace it no questions asked). Escalate to higher up in CS.

Had exactly the same, got really annoyed gave up arguing with them and repurchased a diff brand

I pointed out numerous times that it's failed within 6 months and even quoted the consumer rights act, they just dug their heals in even more and assured me they're not going against the consumer rights act 🙄 in the end I just asked for their complaints department details because I'm not happy with how they've dealt with it.
