I had 2 weeks off because my mental health was so bad lots of things going on at home. Also lots of changes and stress at work. This is my second week back at work and I’m no better in floods of tears everyday. Forgetting things head is all over the place. Dr prescribed setraline to me but I refused to take it so I can work on dealing with my emotions myself but that hasn’t worked.

My manager keeps asking me if I am sure if I should be at work. Every time she asks me if I’m ok I burst into tears! Very embarrassing.

I work with a lovely bunch of people who are so supportive so I know they will understand.

aibu to go off again after just coming back?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed it’s difficult to deal with your emotions alone, and sometimes people need medication to help them cope with dealing with their emotions in therapy. It’s not an either/or, one helps the other. If you’ve had two weeks off with no treatment it’s highly unlikely you’re ready to be back at work. Take a couple more weeks, give medication time to work.

The problem with medication increasing is often because people take medication, feel much better and so don’t actually make the changes needed to recover. They then “use up” the spare capacity the medication gave them and then need a higher and higher dose. Take the medication, do go to therapy and make whatever practical changes you need to maintain your mental health, be that more support, attending to self care, learning how to relax etc.
