To think it's the wrong size??

13 mo is in size 7 nappies. He has been in this size since 9 months old since we thought he grew out of size 6.

Several people have told me size 7 is way too big for this age.

If I'm being honest, it does seem quite gappy at the thighs but we dont really leak often maybe because poos are solid... but we tried size 6 again and the tabs were near the hips and felt way too small.

My baby is in the 75th percentile and is tall but not wide.

I know it's difficult to tell without seeing but what do others think?

Thanks!

In the nicest possible way, you're overthinking this. If size 7 are comfortable and don't leak, they're probably the right size.

Pandasnacks · 20/11/2024 12:25

How many people are you really discussing nappy sizes with? Is there a particular concern that you have? Just use the nappies you are comfortable with, there is no 'should'. If you find they're coming up small at some point you could try another brand.

StickyWikkit · 20/11/2024 12:26

They either fit or they don't...

I dont understand why you are asking here?

AutumnLeaves24 · 20/11/2024 12:27

Hard to say without seeing them, but if you think they're ok just tell people size6 are too small & they don't do size 6.5 so 7's it is.

or ask someone not invested in the debate. Or try a 6 in a different brand.

From memory, mine were about a size 4 at 9 months and size 5 at 12 months. I think size 7 is the last size so they would have been wearing that around 24 months and just before potty training. So yes I'd say possibly too big but if they're not leaking then it's fine.

SarahLHs · 20/11/2024 12:28

My just turned 2 year old is in size 5, but she is quite small. But if they fit ok and aren't leaking then I really don't think it matters.

CookieMonster28 · 20/11/2024 12:30

My nearly 16 month old is in 5+ Aldi nappies...and she's a normal size! Have been thinking of trying a 6 soon...so doesn't sound awfully big!

BB78910 · 20/11/2024 12:30

DS is also on the 75th percentile and is size 3 at 3.5m so he's basically gone up a size each month. With DD1 she was also in bigger sizes quite quickly from what I remember but I never paid attention to the 'weight' etc on the packet - if it didn't fit it didn't fit. Tell people to mind their own in the nicest way possible!

HippeePrincess · 20/11/2024 12:30

The point at which the tabs go round the body is higher up over the widest part of the belly when the nappy is too big, if you sized down a few sizes and the nappy was done up around the hips you’d probably find they fit better. There’s no bigger size than a 7 and my very big first ds was wearing nappies til nearly 3 and wearing a 6 (7 didn’t exist) …

doodleschnoodle · 20/11/2024 12:37

It does seem big, my then 4yo had only just reached size 7 when she was in overnight nappies and she's not small! They were pull-ups though obviously.

My 2.5yo is in size 5 for nappies and pull-ups. Again she's not small, about 70-80% centile for both.

But if they fit, they fit. I think that if you have them too far down or up though that the sizing can look wrong. Size 7 is as big as you get mainstream so for a 13mo to be in one does sound unusual.

RaspberryBeretxx · 20/11/2024 12:38

I think if they're working then they are the right size. I think both mine were in pull ups from around 1 as they just seemed more flexible and comfy round their tummies when they were moving around more.

Pipconkermash · 20/11/2024 13:08

My bog standard 15 month is in size 5.

I mean, it’s up to you, but I suspect your kid is way below the weight bracket for the 7s.

MuddlingThrough1724 · 20/11/2024 13:13

Perhaps try a different brand? Sizing does vary between them. How much does your child weigh? My 13kg, 19 month old (tall and heavy for his age, but not too chunky around the tummy) is comfortably in Pampers premium size 5, and is a wayboff us needing to size up.

Ultimately, if what you are using fits and baby is comfortable, size is just a label and isn't something to worry about.

paristotokyo · 20/11/2024 13:19

Mine is 6 months younger than yours and already in size 6 which fit really well. My other child at this age was in size 3! So if they fit then it's all good!

twentysevendresses · 20/11/2024 19:07

What does your baby weigh? If he's in a size 7 now, what are you going to do in a year's time?? There is no bigger size!

RandomMess · 20/11/2024 19:12

Can you put a up photo?

You do realise they wear them lower and the tabs further away as they get older/bigger?

Please don't put a photo of your child in a nappy on the internet.
