People who panic buy because snow

It’s usually bread, tinned soups and tinned veg that I see being bought.

Don’t people not have a small store cupboard? Plus people can surely live without bread?

I live alone and got enough food in my cupboards for 3 weeks, four at a push

I don't know.... if snow is in the forecast I'd rather not have to venture out until roads are clear. It's better to be stocked up and not have to make do.

If the extra milk and bread gets chucked, more fool them

We tend to keep a couple of loaves in the freezer.

What really gets me is people who don't write "of" in sentences. Because whatever does not make sense hth.

I could fit a LOT of bread in my freezer.

I have 2 kids, one is 3 and the other is a 10 month old baby and I myself have Fibromyalgia which gets 10x worse with cold weather so I can not go out in such cold weather thats why I try to buy whatever I need before the cold weather sets in. Its not panic buying, its thinking ahead of time so you arent screwed once the extreme cold sets in and you cant venture out due to your condition and situation.

This country has a disproportionate number of stupid people who will buy all the petrol, the bread and the big roll. The bread will go mouldy, they WFH anyway and nobody poo's that often. You're right, these imbeciles boil my piss. Calm the F down and carry on as normal, no wonder shelves become empty with helps No One. It's very very anti social and selfish behaviour and I'm sick of these national ingates. Only our US mates act equally mentally.

I'm disabled so I can't walk in the snow, I live alone but even if I had a household I think it's sensible to buy a bit extra
Milk and bread can be frozen and veg and meat can be bought frozen
Cereal is always handy to keep in

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/11/2024 18:06

@constancem maybe the shops could increase their orders so stock doesn't run out?

momager1 · 19/11/2024 18:33

snow is never an issue here, tropical climate year round, but for about four months we are in hurricane season and for that, yes I do stockpile a bit. We have a small generator that will keep the fridge running and lights on if we need it. I make sure that the propane for both bbq and house are full, and we have a third tall propane bottle that we fill just in case. Our house just ran out of propane today (runs the stove and hot water heater) and we hooked up the tall tank, will last us about two months and then we will leave empty until August, when hurricane alley gets action again! When we first moved to the island, a wise person said to us, "if you see the locals putting tape x's on their windows, and stores putting wood panels up..worry !" Hope all of you dealing with the snow right now stay safe and warm

Soup is nice when it's freezing and they might want to have it with a cheese toastie. I'm having exactly that for tea (with a tin of butter beans to add protein).

My sister lives in the arse end of nowhere and if they get snowed in without food then they're fucked. They freeze extra milk and bread.
