To ask for recommendations for lovely but not too pricey restaurants in London with teens?

It's my 40th in a few weeks time. I've got DCs 14 and 16 and I'd love to go to a lovely restaurant that's special but that won't bankrupt us! My preference would be Italian, so a place that does delicious pasta for me but pizza for the DCs. I'm up for other options, though. The DC will eat burgers, steak, dim sum / noodles. They're quite meat focussed, I'm afraid!
Central or east London would be best for us.
Who's got some great suggestions for me?

Zedel is great, we like it there too!!

Rudy’s on Wardour Street - arguably better quality pizza than Pizza Pilgrims, and a nice atmosphere when it’s packed.

Or Blacklock on Great Windmill Street, if you or DCs will enjoy eating yourself into a meat coma, followed by white chocolate cheesecake.

Relais de Venise in the City or Marylebone is gorgeous! It's steak & chips (sorry it's not pasta) but the steak is just beautiful.

We went there a few weeks ago! DH and I love it but the DCs were a bit meh. I don't think they liked me making them eat the salad at the start 😂😂

If you want Italian, and for it not to bankrupt you but still be special .. & also to appeal to teenagers, got to be Gloria in Shoreditch surely??

Brasserie Zedel is one of the best restaurants in Central for value vs fancyness (although it's not any of the cuisines you've mentioned but has a varied menu with lots of meat options!)

Edited

I second this!

I think they do a prix fixe menu too?

AmusedBouched · 18/11/2024 16:31

Oo yes! Blacklock is surprisingly good value!

Sofa1000 · 18/11/2024 16:43

Yes Blacklock is great. Zedel if they’re more adventurous. Lovely oysters.
How about Canary Wharf Blacklock? Great location for a wander around.

Kin + deum on crucifix lane behind London bridge station. Really good Thai food, nice cocktails, nice setting, great service

I love Brasserie Zedel too. DB took his wife there a few times when they were dating for the glamour experience.

Would Busaba Eat Thai go down well? They have lots of those around London.

Angela Hartnett's restaurant Murano is lovely, Italian menu, fancy but not stuffy, and has a great fixed price set menu. They showed my pre teen son around the kitchen as he was interested. Strongly recommend.

Zedel, Delauney and Wolsey are all the same chain.
IMHO The Wolsey is best.

BlueJayCailin · 18/11/2024 17:47

Assumed it would have been mentioned already but Dishoom no? Super nice and not too spenny, and also quite interesting food wise

ExtraOnions · 18/11/2024 17:53

You can often get a good price set menu at a number of Michelin starred places. You can get a set lunch for £40 … there are some on here. Open Table sometimes has good deals as well

Manzis- seafood restaurant with great meat options and excellent 3 course set menu for £30 - very close to Tottenham Court Rd in Soho. New/ish, fancy and great vibe
