Do I need a visa?!

Sorry in advance for misuse of AIBU but I need fast answers!

As a British citizen planning to visit Ireland (Dublin and Kerry if that's relevant), do I need a visa as well as my passport? It's a short trip of a few days. I'm trying to book my flights currently and it's prompting me to check if I need a visa (flight changeover in Dublin to get to Kerry). A quick google suggests I don't if I'm flying from an EU country, which England is not?? Therefore do I need a visa for this short trip?

apologies in advance if this is a daft question but I'm a bit confused by what I've read online! Thanks for any advice.

This is what came up, which is making me question whether I need one. Apparently the flight I'm looking at is a self transfer flight due to the changeover in Dublin to get to Kerry.

You don’t even need a passport (if you are flying Aer Lingus, you do with Ryanair) if coming directly from the UK. There is freedom of movement between Ireland and the U.K.

@Catza
Ah that spells it out quite clearly thank you! I missed that when I googled.

Tbh I wouldn't have thought I'd need a visa but the prompt when booking my flights made me question it.

You might need photo ID if you are checking luggage, but not if hand luggage only. Check airline policy.

DH and visited NI in the summer, caught ferry to Belfast then drove down to z Dublin to get the ferry yo Holyhead. No passports needed at any point,no border control.

I flew with Aer Lingus on my driving licence (ironically my British passport was in the Irish passport office as I was waiting for a new Irish passport). I needed my driving license to check in to my flight and to enter Ireland at immigration.

Thanks all, this is very helpful. I won't be checking hold luggage, just hand baggage.

I hope you enjoy your visit. Just to prepare you, Kerry airport is small and I mean very small. I have seen many tourists look very confused that they get off a plane and they are suddenly out the front without "going through an airport ". From getting off the plane to walking out the front door takes about 45 seconds. Off the plane, in through the terminal door which plane parks conveniently beside, pass the only luggage carousel, through arrivals door, ten steps through terminal and exit to outside.

As others said no visa required. Do bring your passport though as some airline staff really don't understand the free travel rules and it can be a big time waster! That said i once flew back on a work ID when my passport was being renewed. Enjoy kerry, it's beyond gorgeous :)
