How long after reintroducing dairy (via The Milk Ladder) did symptoms appear?

Posting on here for traffic.

Hi,

My DD (11 months) has just started the milk ladder and has gone off her food and is crying a lot today. I'm not sure if it's due to starting the milk ladder or something else such as teething. She started the milk ladder yesterday.

Yesterday she had a small corner of a Malted Milk biscuit and today she had two small corners.

How long do symptoms take to appear? Do I pause the milk ladder or do I just put it down to teething and keep going?

Thanks

I would assume milk ladder. If she’s got no dairy in her system and then after having some is irritable then it’s probably that.
Both of mine eventually grew out of it (aged 1 and 2) and we got to various points on the ladder and then had to stop there for a while - E.g. with egg DS2 got to the point where he could have egg cooked in things but not scrambled etc.

Gosh it's so hard when they're that young on the ladder. Mine at that age broke out in hives within minutes. We were completely off dairy (and eggs). Started back at 3 and could eat pizza aged 5, can have yoghurt chocolate etc now but not interested in milk though we encourage him to try it he's still on plant based milk at age 11.
I think the advice is to stop and go back to the last safe step. I probably would have waited for a reaction today (take a break) and give every second day for the first week. Just to make sure baby's system is used to it before increasing the quantity.
Apologies no offence intended, my child was severely allergic hence the careful introduction. Your child is obviously different, so I'm not suggesting doing it my way, just saying how it went for us. Also as time went on we found we could skip some steps which was wonderful. We were in and out for skin prick and blood tests which made us feel more confident.
There's light at the end of the tunnel as my child now eats eggs even though he still doesn't like it. Goodluck!
