Does anyone remember when maybe 10 years ago they made those giant blankets that had sleeves?

Where did they go?
They were so smart!
I only had one, pretty much wore it out, had to throw it out and now I have none….

OP posts:

I had one and found it a bigger when I needed the loo. I’ve now bought a heated throw. I love it and wear it when I work

Octavia64 · 17/11/2024 03:00

Middle of Lidl had them a couple of months ago.

I got a back up one.

StandingSideBySide · 17/11/2024 03:03

Son gave me one for Christmas years ago.
Im under it every evening on the sofa
Although I never bothered with the whole sticking your arms in, to me it’s just a warm blanket

DesertGecko · 17/11/2024 03:10

The original was called The Snuggie.

DimplesToadfoot · 17/11/2024 03:20

The original one was always full of electric/static/thingystuff, my hair would stand on end and I'd get constant electric shocks, the dog would jump on and get a shock too so I got rid of it in the end

I nearly got tempted by the usb heated one but memories flooded back and I gave it a no lol

I think I'd rather sit and shiver than go through that again

IAm16StoneHalloween2024 · 17/11/2024 03:40

Doesn’t your back and neck get cold in them?

Snozzlemaid · 17/11/2024 05:43

I've got one by Silentnight.
Saw them for sale in Matalan today as well.

66babe · 17/11/2024 05:55

I saw a rolled up throw on a sale shelf in Marks a few weeks ago
It was a perfect colour for me so at 7 quid I just grabbed it

Got home , unwrapped the packing to find a throw over with hood and arms
It's huge .. almost square and really lovely and warm.

Love it 🤩

How to say you've never used a slanket without using the words "I've never used a slanket"

Do you mean the Oodie?

Yup. The Oodie.

So you can use the hood to cover up your face? Sounds good.

WTAFisthisnonsense · 19/11/2024 07:27

My first thought was Peter Griffin's yanket - I think we all know why his arms are fake 😉

User364837 · 19/11/2024 07:27

I think of the Slanket as the forerunner to the Oodie

tilypu · 19/11/2024 07:32

I think the slanket was way more than ten years ago - probably double that - but I'm guessing that's what the op is talking about, rather than the oodie type.

😆 why would you do that?

RedRiverShore5 · 19/11/2024 07:40

There is a Percy Pig one on M&S website for £19.50, looks like a blanket with sleeves

The great thing about sticking your arms in is that it means they stay warm when you're doing things ike reading.

Not so. I've got a big warm dressing gown that I wear that way in bed. It means my arms and shoulders stay warm for reading or typing. I also have a slanket which I keep in the living room.

liveforsummer · 19/11/2024 07:54

I think they were over taken in trend by oodies which are a bit more practical to get up and walk around in. Can still find them though. Slanket was the original from
The home shopping channels before the copies went wild

I have one. Not sure what you mean.

The post I was quoting suggested an alternative that was so very, very different to what you expect from a slacker that it appears to come from ignorance. A bit like saying on a thread about oodies ‘just wear a thicker t shirt’

Dressing is wrong cut, wrong length and likely unsuitable fabric

Precisely - your dressing gown is nothing like a slanket

The dressing gown is worn on a different place for a different purpose (variant bed-jacket)

You don’t wear a dressing gown as a sofa blanket, and you don’t wear a slanket in bed

KnittyNell · 19/11/2024 08:16

Weren’t they called ‘slankets’?
I have a lovely cosy one that my DH bought me from Amazon.

Dpresst · 08/12/2024 21:56

I wore my dressing down backwards today and it was exactly like a slanket.
