Dominos

Ordered 2 pizzas and 3x caramel cookies for my son and his friends. I don't have loads of money and get one takeaway every couple of months. Wanted to treat my son on his sleepover. These things cost a bloody fortune. They sent the wrong ones which two of them don't want. Called them and they said 'we don't do the caramel ones anymore, so we just send out regular ones' (which are cheaper!). They are refusing to refund me. Seriously considering driving over there and kicking up a fuss! I know, hardly worth a thread over but it does my head in that people's money is treated as if it is nothing. I feel like at a restaurant you wouldn't order one thing and then receive another because the menu is wrong. So, wwyd? Drive over and kick up a fuss? Or just ditch the cookies and tell the boys there's no dessert? Thank you in advance from a wound up mother!

I’ve had an issue like this with dominos before and I think I contacted the customer services via email after a crappy response from the store itself and got a refund that way. Take some pictures of the order you received as evidence and they can see that against what you actually ordered then.

Currently messaging them. Such a waste of money.

It is and ruins your evening as it’s supposed to be a treat but you just end up disappointed, stressed and potentially out of pocket too. I hope it doesn’t spoil your/their night though and you get your money back x

sel2223 · 16/11/2024 18:09

I've also sent an online feedback form for something similar previously and got fully refunded.
Agree with pp take pics and screenshots of any written responses

Thanks for being understanding. I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, but in the moment it's hard to manage two boys who have no dessert and one who is tucking in happily. We've had tears, a tantrum, and now my son won't speak (he has SEN and gets dysregulated). UGH.

i don’t really understand how someone can like caramel cookies but not regular cookies? Do they know that the cookies are just the same but without caramel?
YANBU to expect Dominoes to at least refund the difference

You could just get stuff in to make your own next time. Much cheaper and just as nice.
You can’t go wrong and don’t need to be any good at baking.

I'm sorry OP, that's shit. The SEN piece is baffling to nonSENse parents so ignore it.

Make a fuss. You'll get something back Flowers

MumOfOneAllAlone · 16/11/2024 19:08

Yanbu, dominos is so expensive and general takeaway customer service has done downhill

Hopefully, as other posters have said, you can take photos and get your money back online. I wouldn't bother going down there x

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 16/11/2024 19:30

Don’t bin them, eat them. They’re delicious.

I get that it’s frustrating if your DS doesn’t like them. But that’s life and learning that things don’t always go your way is part of it, SEN or not.

I’ve had takeaway orders where one person’s whole meal didn’t turn up. And of course it has to be the vegetarian so they can even share with someone else. It’s a pain. But kicking up a fuss now won’t help you or your son if they don’t make them any more. I’d leave them out and you may find they’re gone once they realise that they aren’t any getting the caramel ones.

But he didn't get what he ordered, they sent another product. Most people would be upset in this situation SEN or not!

Wow, harsh! I'm more annoyed that a tenner of my money has been wasted, I've been charged for a more expensive product and received a cheaper one and my son as a result is disappointed. Not the end of a world but as a single mum who has no other adult to moan to I figured mumsnet might be a good place!

Ridiculous comment. It’s not about things not ‘always going your way.’ You order something, you expect the correct thing to turn up. SEN or not

soupfiend · 16/11/2024 21:06

Isnt the point the poster is making is that , its not likely the right order will come tonight. Best result is a refund yes?

But thats not a dinner you cant eat the refund

So when life throws you lemons make lemonade, eat whats there and accept that occasionally these things happen and the right way to do deal with it is go through the proper channels, get your money back and accept that its not ideal for tonight

And perhaps dont use the same company again (whatever company does things like this in the future)

Mum can moan, perfectly legitimate, child can moan, perfectly legitimate, but for it to ruin the night, thats about building resilience, and as the other poster says, SEN or not.

Ethylred · 16/11/2024 21:08

Don't buy this effluent.

ThinWomansBrain · 16/11/2024 21:16

£10 for three cookies?
not the point of the thread, but they probably assume you have money to burn.

Bollihobs · 16/11/2024 21:20

You have my sympathy OP, I have very specific dietary requirements so a random change to what I ordered would leave me completely in the lurch as well - not just "oh well it's different but never mind" more "well........I can't eat that"

You are clearly articulate so I'd email HO and give all the details and use the phrases you've used here - that they are treating your money as if it means nothing when for you, and your son, this was a much looked forward to, very occasional, treat. You should at least get a refund of the difference, maybe a full refund, maybe even a voucher as well.

And to get a positive out of it do as some others have said and find stuff you can do at home - you and your son can look at all the alternatives available and make choices that he can look forward to for next time and you'll know that everything will be just as planned and expected which for SEN needs is invaluable.

There are some really unhelpful responses to your thread OP so I’m going to reiterate something @MrsTerryPratchett said earlier -

“The SEN piece is baffling to nonSENse parents so ignore it.”

Some people will never understand. I hope your DC is doing ok x

Whatafustercluck · 17/11/2024 09:10

Domino's is extortionate. We've begun supporting local pizza places amd spending our money there instead.

Sympathies with your SEN son's reaction. Our 8yo dd would be exactly the same if she had ordered something she likes and was looking forward to and received something she wasn't expecting. Ultimately you've paid for and was expecting something that didn't turn up.
