To ask if this is a suitable time for a birthday party

A 5 year olds birthday party, 3-5 on a Sunday?

It would be fine for us but wondering if it would cause a problem for others being later in the day. There would be food.

I’d be personally abit miffed at that. I think parties should be in the mornings to give people their days back. The majority we get invited to are 9.30-11.30 and that’s been the normal throughout the years at my child’s pre school and nursery but I guess it’s a one off

9:30 on a weekend? Sounds like hell.

MotorwayDiva · 15/11/2024 17:12

Most kids have dance or swim lesson in the.mornings, so usually ours are in the afternoon.

MajorCarolDanvers · 15/11/2024 17:15

It’s fine

I've never been to a child's party at those times 3 till 5 seems very normal and seems very common in our area

DC1214 · 15/11/2024 17:22

I think that sounds ideal! My 10 yr old had a great time accompanying her 2 yr old brother bro/babysitting while we drank coffee at a role play village place the other week so 5 yr olds would most certainly enjoy it. Agree that if little ones have activities booked they’re usually in morning so saves people missing out.

mindutopia · 15/11/2024 17:22

Perfectly normal time for a party.

Most parties we've ever hosted or been invited to are afternoon ones a most children tend to have other activities on weekend mornings such as sports or dancing.

Absolutely fine here DS is nearly 5 and I'd much prefer an evening party. Honestly, who the fuck wants to be up and at a party by 9.30 on a weekend, it's bad enough I've got to be up to take him to clubs that early.

teatoast8 · 15/11/2024 17:27

Totally fine

TickTockPolly · 15/11/2024 17:31

The party time is fine (that’s the slot I always choose to go for) and my reception child would enjoy a role play village too!

@Amba1998 have you hosted a 9:30am party? Curious what time you have to start prepping

Sweepsthepillowclean · 15/11/2024 17:31

Absolutely perfect time. 9.30 in the morning is ridiculous.

NewName24 · 15/11/2024 17:32

Great time.

Statistically, activities / classes / lessons / sports for young children, plus Church of course are much more likely to be in the morning - if not the invitee, then their siblings so it gets complicated for the parents - so afternoons are much better, IMO.

Himawarigirl · 15/11/2024 17:35

That time and type of party sounds great.

ZoeRuby · 15/11/2024 17:37

My 8 year old is having a party on a Sunday afternoon. Sunday mornings all his friends are at football/swimming etc.

WafflesOrIceCream · 15/11/2024 17:42

9.30am parties?!

Ithinkyou · 15/11/2024 17:51

Love an afternoon party, it's my least favourite part of the day with small children so brilliant to have and activity AND dinner sorted.
