Films, women, good vibes

Evening, good fine women of mumsnet.

Currently enjoying Queenpins on Netflix, which, whilst will likely not win awards, is ticking the box for a film which celebrates /champions women in a lighthearted manner. Any other recommendations? Doesn't necessarily have to be lighthearted, but certainly uplifting (in the end).

AIBU for the traffic...

Thanks @PermanentTemporary I've just googled and it is, and it sounds heartwarming. Thanks for sharing.

Not a film but series have you watched Frankie and Gracie - if not it perfectly fits the bill.

Another vote for 'Hidden Figures'.

I've not seen 'A Man Called Otto' but have seen and would definitely recommend the original Swedish film (though it's only from 2015) 'A Man Called Ove'. 'A Man Called Otto' is an American remake from 2022. Great that people like this version too though and it's available on Netflix whereas the original isn't, unfortunately.

Would also recommend 'Toni Erdmann' and 'Miss Sloane'. I don't know which service these may be available on, but they're well worth a watch if you do come across them. Oh, and another that's uplifting (but you may have already seen) is 'Amelie'.

Caramel (2007) It’s set in a beauty salon in Beirut. Don't let that put you off though. It's quite low budget and uses a lot of first time/non professionnel actors. It's just lovely and ends in a big wedding.

Oh that sounds like a much-needed watch. Thank you for recommending. I will try to find it available somewhere.

I recently watched Tag, but that's about a male friendship group.

It's on Netflix Smile

Agree with Nyad. It’s a great film.
