How to manage newborn with sick toddler?

I am a mum to a 3 yo toddler and a newborn. Currently on maternity leave, toddler goes to nursery 3 days and he has been catching so many bugs. He had a cold and flu in last 4 weeks. I am worried sick about the baby as she's still so young only 4 weeks old. She already had cold at 2 weeks old.
DH is doing most of looking after toddler with help from DGP but I feel sad for not being around him much as I am breastfeeding the baby and also worried about the baby catching the illnesses.
How do parents with multiple DC manage babies when you have sick toddler around and when does it all gets better?
Is there any practical advice I can use?
Thanks for reading the post.

Also, I had a c section, so still not fully recovered yet.

The baby gets sick much more often than the first born. The parents are exhausted. You cope, and it slowly gets easier. Flowers

Congratulations!

You just crack on and get through it. It’s no fun at all! Though my youngest didn’t get so ill when she started nursery as she’d had it all before, so that’s a good thing I suppose. If you are BF that will also help the baby fight off the bugs. Hope you all get better quickly.

Thanks @Spangler I guess our only option is to wait and ride through this season.

Basically as above. Bear in mind you are giving your baby antibodies through breast feeding which will help.
If someone can help great but otherwise lots of handwashing and avoid toddler touching babies face.

Sending a virtual cuppa and flowers OP BrewFlowers

It's a tough phase, but you'll get through it. Try not to focus on the negatives too much as that just adds to the exhaustion!

In the same boat but my baby is older.

She's currently sick with a fever, while older DS has a cough and cold.

Stupid winter. :(

I've been letting them interact as normal and just making sure they get their Vit D every day (from a bottle and from the sun, when possible!)

You just have to accept baby will get sick more than your first. Saying that DS got impetigo when DD was 2 weeks old, I almost cried when the doctor casually said "keep him away from pregnant women and newborns", but DH managed to get an extra weeks paternity leave so he looked after DS while I hid in the bedroom with DD.
