Echo / Alexa for kids

Considering getting the kids one each for Christmas for their bedrooms (ages 12 & 7).
If anyone has one for kids, are they good/worth it? And what do they mainly use it for. Do we have to buy a subscription for them to is it? I'm looking at the Echo Pop (not the kids version, and not wanting one with a screen)

My DD is 9, she uses it for music, asking how to spell words when doing homework, loves asking it facts, listening to audio books.

Oh goodness, I'm assuming you do not recommend them? My nephew has one and uses it for podcasts, music, alarm clock so I thought it sounded quite good.

Thank you! Would you say they are worth getting then? Do you have to pay an additional subscription for the audio books/music?

Yes, you do need a subscription for a Kids Alexa's - but we get it cheaper as we have AmazonPrime.
Both DC (10 & 6) have one in their rooms - they use them for playing music, white noise/sleep sounds, jokes, facts, telecom between rooms, alarms, timers etc.
very useful & you can set controls for content.

My kids have one each. They use them for alarms, playing music and the occasional homework question. They also use them to talk to us instead of coming downstairs if we're still up late.

My 9 year old has one. I initially gave it to her so she could listen to audiobooks. She now listens to music on it as well. You do need a subscription for the audiobooks and music but I already had them anyway (Audible and Spotify).

We have one in all bedrooms including both kids, living room and kitchen. Used for Spotify, questions, weather, the time, homework answers and for Alexa to make fart noises
