Hi everyone, I've got 4 grown up children and 2 of them have their own homes with a partner and kids etc.. one other still lives at home (22) and the other off working around the world as cabin crew. I also have 3 beautiful grandchildren who obviously I will buy more for at Xmas. I never know what to buy my kids and I don't want to spend a lot as they always tell me not to. I was thinking £100 per couple to spend on what they want , is this to much or not enough? My son who lives at home is in Amsterdam for Xmas so I'm giving him euros which is what he wanted. Any advice would be welcome.

I think £100 per couple is very generous and I’m sure they would just be happy you’ve thought of them than the monetary value of the gift.

I think £100 per couple is actually very generous for grown up children. If you can afford it then great, but if not then give less - I would hate to think of my mum putting herself into financial difficulty just to buy us presents.

My DF gives me £100 plus something to open like a book (possibly from charity shop - totally fine by me), box of chocolates etc. DM gives similar amount and will only give a physical gift if she has happened to see something she thinks I would like (or that she thinks I should find useful!) which is every couple of years. So I think it is ok but obviously depends on your finances. They buy for DC at about £10-20/child
