To think technology makes some things harder not easier (heating systems)

My heating has broken. I'm a single mum and last week work was insanely busy (i do an office job, was racing to get kids at 6, dinner then bed at 8 then back online till 11) which slowed me down in getting it fixed. We've been going to bed in dressing downs on top of pjs.

I've had a heating fella come round, he replaced a part, the heating worked, then it all went off again when he left. Last year he had a few visits for some other heating issue.

I've got a cold, probably a result of having no heating for so long, which is making me extra grumpy (and I've had my 3yo all day) but I've spent so much time googling about bloody nests, wiring etc and I think these smart things overcomplicate it.

Is it the nest / the wiring / the battery or the boiler? Before it was just the boiler and valves, right?

I'm now considering going back to an old fashioned one. Once the man comes back again tomorrow (costing money I could really do without spending)

A very basic whinge I'm afraid but the modern world is utterly exhausting. How to get off the treadmill!

Completely agree. Tech cause me a lot of aggravation. I’m sure I was a lot calmer pre 1998

I don’t rely on my gas heating system at all; in fact, I keep it switched off, only turning it on occasionally to heat water as needed.

Instead, I’ve opted for small electric ceramic heaters as my primary source of warmth. These heaters are very economical to run and provide excellent, efficient heating for my space.
