To think kids' parties are getting too loud

Those parties that are popular with 4-6 year olds, where they hire a large room with a DJ and a bouncy castle. My son ended up going to a fair few when he was that age, and now a few years later, so is my daughter.

But the music seems to be so much louder this time around. It's so loud that you can't have a normal conversation with anyone anymore and you end up shouting in each other's ear. Isn't that at hearing damage level? Why are they doing that to little ears? I had to get my daughter ear defenders just to go to birthday parties.

Is this happening anywhere else?

Four - six year old are loud - especially when they’re excited at a party. Who would you be having a conversation with ?

I agree sometimes the music is deafening. There is no need. The kdis want to at and play as well as dance. It’s not suppose to be a club with booming music.

No you're just getting older 😂I'm the exact same. Less tolerant for "all that racket!"

Needmorelego · 10/11/2024 20:09

My daughter used to cry and ask to leave if it was the type with a DJ.
All they need at that age is a CD Player or a phone with Spotify for music.
(she 16 now so this isn't particularly a new thing)

Not a thing where I am, thankfully. Bouncy castle is always just accompanied by music on the village hall sound system.

It's the music that's loud. And I talk to other parents.

Oh, poor girl. My daughter is not phased about the noise, but will also happily wear ear defenders, and a few other kids do as well.

I agree!
Also kind of related…. i hired out a small soft play for a birthday and had to keep asking them to turn the music down. My child is very noise sensitive. Tbh tho generally the atmosphere was SO much better with that low volume - felt a lot more social. But the staff acted like I was a bit weird to keep asking.

We went to one a number of years ago when Gangnam Style was at no 1 in the charts and it was sheer carnage. Loads of 4-6yrs olds running round screaming with Gangnam Style on repeat......
Made for a memorable party 😫

Needmorelego · 10/11/2024 20:57

@TakeMyLifeAndLetItBe oh I remember the "what does the fox say" era 😂

Caszekey · 10/11/2024 21:30

We're having one with a DJ for our twins 5th but it definitely will not be at that volume. I want the kids to be able to hear me if they do something they shouldn't and I need to shout at them to stop from across the room!!

I almost felt like asking the DJ to turn it down today even though it wasn't my party! Like you say, much more social if you can still hear each other speak.
