My 13 Yr old is home educated. He was suicidal at school so we had to take him out. We havevhad our fair share of hassle with the local authority but he is happy. Anyone else home edding?

What have you had hassle for? We used to HE, mostly happily but we always wanted to try a school again.

We used to home ed our three DC - now all at college/Uni. There’s a home ed board on Mumsnet that you might want to post on. Have you found home ed groups locally for trips/meet ups? My DC mostly liked being home ed. They did GCSEs while home ed which was a lot of work - not least for me - but do-able if you decide to go down that route.

My kids, now aged 25 and 18, were home educated from the start and the younger one still is. She has a learning disability, and home ed has been the making of her. She's confident, happy, and well adjusted because she has always been able to get what she needed educationally and socially. She learns things in her own time.

The older one probably would have been okay at school, but really enjoyed HE and had many opportunities which wouldn't have been available at school. They tried school aged ten. There were things they liked and things they disliked about school, but on balance they preferred home education and returned to it.

Glad to hear your son is recovering from his difficult time at school. How long has it been since he left?
