To think my 12 week old is teething

He is screaming in pain, drooling a lot, biting our fingers, and I think I can see where the teeth are coming through. I have seen other people saying their baby started teething this early. Could it be possible and is there anything we can use for the pain as the products I’ve seen recommended are for babies over 4/5 months

Apparently I was born with three teeth coming through. It could be teething or he could sickening for something - ear pain is horrendous in babies.
How I remember this. Don't worry. Your baby is safe, and it won't always be like this. Good luck - it is hard. Something cold on the gums can help.

It is possible but at this time of year with colds going round it is more likely to be congestion and ear infection/inflammation. It can be very painful to swallow with a middle ear infection, hence drooling and possibly struggling to feed.
Earache classically comes on suddenly and is intense then settles again leading to babies crying out suddenly. They often have red burning cheek/s on the affected side.

Check with GP and give calpol if allowed. You wouldn’t put up with toothache or earache without painkillers.
Because the pain is not always down to infection but more likely inflammation, antibiotics are not really much use.

If you’ve ever had earache it often causes referred pain into the lower jaw because the nerves supplying the lower jaw pass close to the ear.

A lot of people think their babies are teething at 12 weeks, but it's usually coincidental due to 12 weeks being a common stage for drooling and chewing their own hands.

OR a stage of pre-teething where the teeth are shuffling down in the gum, but won't come out for months.

My eldest got her first tooth at 12 weeks, youngest at 14 weeks, so entirely possible! Our pharmacist suggested anbesol which she said was ok despite some labels saying 5 months.

My eldest started teething around 10 weeks, she got her first tooth at 13 weeks so it definitely could be that.
We used Ashton and parsons teething powders I'm sure they are from 12 weeks and they really helped DD.

Unlikely but possible. My second got her first tooth at 4 months. I thought she was teething but convinced myself it was just the saliva glands but she was chewing so hard on everything and getting upset. Found out when she bit me with a tooth and it really hurt! Second Ashton and parsons and calpol, you can give one off doses from 2 months and more regular doses from 3 months. Some teething toys are great if they aren’t too hard and are easy to hold, and a muslin in the freezer to chew on is great.

It's very possible, my eldest had four teeth by three months, top two and bottom two. My youngest on the other hand, was gummy until ten months.

Would defo recommend a matchstick monkey teether also, they're super easy for them to hold with two hands and not too big for them to fit in their mouths

@Stillhere3 was your baby teething in the end?
