Actually I do think YABU, sorry. That man has to make a living the same as everybody else and he makes his living by charging for people to go on the merry-go-round that he maintains.

When you've got 3 dcs like I have, you soon learn to avoid fun-fairs!!!!!

Plus I don't particularly like the sort of people who hang around fun-fairs anyway. A bit unsavoury and seedy for my liking.

The best thing to do is find somewhere like West Midlands Safari Park where you pay £6 for a childs bracelet that enables them to use all the rides (age appropriate of course) all day - excellent value for money

YANBU. I'd have felt similarly about that. Either your dd was too small to go on (in which case he should have said that) or he should have charged only for one person. He was taking advantage of your dd being unable to ride alone. Tbh, it sounds as though she was too small for the ride.

I took ds on a horse carosel in George Square at christmas - they had a sleigh type thing that we could both sit in - got charged £2 each..... he was 7 months at the time. Felt a bit but he enjoyed it, we csan afford it. You live and learn and all that

YANBU and usually the attendent is quite reasonable about who can go on alone but it seems to be getting quite common. There is a soft play area near me who charge for parent(s) to come in. I'm only there because my children are too young to go on their own not because I want to go on the drop slide fgs. They even charged my OAP mother when she came. She was entitled to go on the go-kart with her ticket apparently but declined ROFL .

YANBU -I know he has a living to make but FFS he could have accepted £2 & said next time it's £2 each!!!!!

Sorry YABU I would never expect to not be charged for dc on a ride. I just didnt let them go on until they were olde enough to use it alone

lizandlulu · 27/04/2008 08:21

i do think it is bad to be charged for 2 people when you are only usung one horse, but it is the morn these days. my dd is 2 also and loves them, just have to be prepared to pay for 2, and it is a nice surprise if you only get charged for 1.

YANBU, but children's rides on funfairs are a rip off IMO so best avoided mostly.
