To return blender I’ve already used

Ordered a nutribullet from Amazon to replace my very ancient Braun multiquick - I use it mostly for smoothies and pesto/hummus/guac. I thought the nutribullet would be just the ticket but it’s just awful.

It arrived yesterday and I have attempted to make hummus., guac, and a smoothie. The smoothies were lumpy, and both dips clung to the side and didn’t work well.

I presume I’m ok to clean it up and return it as per distance selling rules. I bought in good faith but to be honest I don’t know what this product is meant for. It doesn’t seem to do anything well.

Well, you could try. Give it a really good wash and pack it up exactly as it was, and perhaps they won't notice that it has been opened. They do check.
I don't think that distance selling necessarily means you are allowed to open and use a product, though, so you might not have a right to return it. f the packaging isn't perfect they might deduct 15% 'restocking fee'.
Good luck.

Return as not fit for purpose. State why.

something2say · 07/11/2024 19:35

No you can't return a food item you have used lol!

StormingNorman · 07/11/2024 19:39

You bought the wrong product for the job. Nutribullets are quite limited in their use and only really suitable for making smoothies. The lumps would be sorted by running it for longer.

I can’t imagine it working on humour or guac at all because it essentially wants to turn everything to liquid. It’s not like other blenders in that sense.

It wouldn’t be right to send it back.

lovemycbf · 07/11/2024 19:42

Morally wrong to return it now you've used it 🤮
As already said state not fit for purpose and be honest

whatatodoaboutnothing · 07/11/2024 19:43

Nope but fine to say it’s not fit for purpose. Just wash before you send back

Bellyfullofbiscuits · 07/11/2024 19:53

It's fine. It's not what you expect. I did it with a juicer.

Duckinglunacy · 07/11/2024 19:56

I’m not sure it’s ’morally’ wrong if I’m not being dishonest about it - and I can’t prove that it’s not fit for the purpose intended without trying it.

I agree about it being the wrong product, but nutribullet also have hummus recipes on their own website, so actually very hard to discern that it is such a wrong product.

Amazon seem to be willing to take it back 🤷‍♀️

Distance selling rules only apply if the product is returned unused and in sellable condition. Amazon always sides with the buyer, though

another1bitestheduck · 07/11/2024 21:39

Honestly every time I've returned something to amazon they've refunded me literally as soon as I've dropped it off in the post office or wherever - i.e. no way they could have even received it back, let alone examined it.

I've also bought something off their 'marketplace' (where they sell reduced goods), a mixer that was still covered with whatever the person had used it to bake, they clearly had used it once and then shoved it back in the box without even trying to clean it.

So regardless of whether morally you should do it, I'm sure amazon will accept it.

Yes you can of it doesn't work.

Monday55 · 07/11/2024 21:52

You can definitely return it. Tell them it's not working, which is the truth.
