Have you seen the movie "Cape Fear"?
Robert De Niro has a handy hint when it comes to pesky canines

not sure what neighbour it is. we back onto two different roads and could be one of 10 houses.

I always open these threads in dread that it will be one of my neighbours posting.

My dog isn't yappy. And she's been barking for longer than 6 months. So it's not me. Phew.

Although you could be my neighbour Broccoli!! We have a dog whih barks every time we go into our back garden, and my DC beome hysterical.

I really think that some dog owners genuinely don't notie what a problem their dogs are, and the detrimental impat they have on other people.

I am following it up with my local council, but it is a slow and frustrating process.

Sorry, my c key doesn;t seem to be working well today!

Nope. No hysterical children near us either. Safe again.

I am very aware that she barks and do everything I can about it. She only barks at things, rather than endless, meaningless barking. And I am always on hand to haul her in if she starts, and don't let her out late or early. But sometimes she needs a wee, I open the door, she spots a squirrel and she's off. I cringe to think of my neighbours cursing me. I hope they don't.

Do they have a feeding bowl outside? You could try slipping something in the pal .

Of course I would never encourage cruelty to animals so perhaps tamazipan (sp) but only now and again.

oh god i sympathise. our neighbours have a dog that barks everytime someone walks past (there is an alleyway down the side of the house). they leave the darn thing out there all day. drives me barmy. they don't seem to care tho

Our neighbours' springer barks whenever it is outside, or if it is left on it's own.

It bugs me no end, and the dds hate it.

i might get a tranqualiser dart and take aim from the kids climbing frame...

Tranquiliser dart???? So not unreasonable. If you'd threatened it with an uzi, maybe...but you're only trying to help it be more peaceful

Seriously...I hope you find some way to resolve this. I hate noise....

You csn

(1) report it as a noise nuisance and the council will around 3 years down the line prosecute the owner, who if found guilty will doubtless do nothing about it

(2) put up with it

(3) kill the dog

Which is the most attractive option?

Report
misdee · 26/04/2008 21:24

(3)

i think its a new dog, as i recall they had a big dog last year.

it is outside an awful lot and can be barking late into the night.

Yup barking dogs suck! But ignorant owners are even worse, I mean the owners which have already been reported to and warned by the council. It is a slow process but you need to do something especialy if its ruining the quality of yours and DC's life. Do try speaking to them first, but if that fails then its time to consult your local council for advice. The dog probebly needs company when the owners are out so they may end up getting another. EeK!
