To complain to agency

Hello I posted recently about difficulties getting a start date for a new job through an agency I've been messed around since the day I was meant to start and today I spoke to the company on thier live chat and was told they was never recruiting for the role I was meant to start.
Would you complain to the agency or leave it be.

Does the job still exist with the company? If so deal direct with them and as the agency denies involvement in it there should be no fee.

Sorry I misread. Complain to the company and the agency.

Apparently the job doesn't exist according to the company but this isn't what the agency said

Have you spoke to the agency? Is it possible they had you lined up for a job but the company has given it to someone else

Upthecreek4 · 07/11/2024 17:29

Yes I've spoke to the agency they just keep saying they are waiting for the company to call about a start date

Did the company interview you?

Fucking recruitment. Bunch of overpaid lying tossers.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 07/11/2024 17:35

Bloody agency.

You posted before I think - is the other job offer elsewhere still on the table?

ohyesido · 07/11/2024 17:48

Wow is it possible they advertised a non existent job to get you on their books? Agencies can be very disingenuous when trying to get a target number of candidates on their books

LIZS · 07/11/2024 17:50

Is this a permanent contract or temp? Tbh I'd lose faith in the agency.

Upthecreek4 · 07/11/2024 18:09

It was temp to perm I was very keen on this job I can't get my head around it
I drove 8 mile there and back to the agencies office, filled out paperwork and had to watch a video about the company I was starting with the next day.
Next day at 7am when I was up and ready to go I had a message from the agency saying dates been changed so don't attend today.

I waited a week with no start date and thought it had fell through so I did start another job as a matter of urgency but was still holding out for this one.

Can you continue with the other job? This one is clearly a non starter. Is it same agency?

Oh different agencies

I’m veering towards thinking the job has been filled. The agency saw it advertised, found a candidate (you) and put you forward without actually having the contract to fill the role.

We get recruiters wanting to send us CVs all the time. They see a job on Indeed or somewhere and try to fill it telling us they have the perfect candidate etc.
