Baby clothes for long/tall babies HELP!

Hsolley0904 · 06/11/2024 19:59

My baby girl is 11 weeks today and she is incredibly long! I’m 6ft and my husband is 6ft 3 so it was always on the cards. She’s almost outgrown her 3-6 month baby grows as her legs are just so long. Any recommendations for longer babygrows as the 6-9s seem HUGE. Or what else are we dressing these long babies in! Any suggestions would be appreciated! TIA

If they fit other than on the legs, you could just cut the feet off and put socks on her maybe?

TeenGreenBottles · 06/11/2024 20:02

I'd just size up.

Skyla01 · 06/11/2024 20:02

I like frugi for my big baby girl. She is long and fairly chubby. Some items have cuffs that fold up / down for extra longevity.' It's pricey but you can get on vinted too. Also, for long legs, sleep suits without feet might be helpful?

SherryPort18 · 06/11/2024 20:03

Have a look at Bonds babygrows. They don't have full feet so her legs can stick out and you can add socks. They are also quite stretchy so they sit neatly on the body without being baggy :)

Try Bonds wondersuits, www.johnlewis.com/bonds-baby-zippy-print-zip-through-wondersuit/strawberry-multi/p111410770

We found these lasted us ages because they were footless and you could roll the cuffs up as well on the feet.

We loved them!

Another vote for cutting the feet off of her baby gros/sleep suits etc. no point wasting them if they fit fine everywhere else. Pop a pair of socks on and you're done.

Tights and a cosy jumper dress was my go-to. Easy to get it to fit, easier for nappy changes and no need to faff with socks which inevitably fall off.

Fridgetapas · 06/11/2024 20:14

I buy footless baby grows for my tall baby and pop socks on. I find Zara clothes are quite long in general so get a lot from there although it’s also narrow so not great if you have a long and chubby baby.

Vest extenders are available on Amazon, they're so handy when you need extra length.

MochaLove · 06/11/2024 20:47

I find Matalan sleepsuits and their baby clothes in general quite big. I put a 9-12 month Matalan sleepsuit on my nearly 11 month old for the first time tonight, and it’s still pretty long with lots of growth room (she is average length).

haje · 06/11/2024 21:00

My youngest is now three but out of four children I couldn't use Tesco clothes because they were soooo long. That may have changed but I always had flappy feet

Same age, same height parents, same issue!

Bonds have been good, didn’t know about best extenders and have just bought a load of new 6 - 9 month ones 🙈

V0xPopuli · 06/11/2024 21:02

Its not just that your daughter is tall its also that if you size up the fit is too big. Try french/italian brands as these tend to fit narrower (british & American kids are fat). Eg a size up will be longer but less large sized.

My son is tall and thin, vertbaudet are good.

V0xPopuli · 06/11/2024 21:04

Also toby tiger - those came up longer & no feet.

RandomMess · 06/11/2024 21:09

I agree Verbaudet slim fitting.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 06/11/2024 21:11

H&M footless sleepsuits. H&M in general is long, if you get footless sleepsuits they last longer.

InfoSecInTheCity · 06/11/2024 21:13

DD was long as a baby and she's now tall as a tween. Back 10 yrs ago I found that the Morrisons Nutmeg range of babygrows were nice and long. Can't say for sure they still are but their kids clothes are generally quite generous in fit so hopefully they'll be good for you.

mnahmnah · 06/11/2024 21:14

Mine were both long babies. Next, sainsburys and the Bonds zip ones were all good.

Tesco, Asda were both short cut for everything as they got older too.

M&S somewhere in between.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/11/2024 22:32

For vests we use vest extenders and for onesies and other clothes we just size up. My husband is 6'5" and we make long babies too 😂 My girl is 5.5 months in 9-12 month onesies 😅

Gonegirl7 · 06/11/2024 22:35

I bought extenders for all vests - little lamb. Lots of reusable nappy websites do them because cloth bums are bigger and need more crotch room.

for sleepsuits buy footless or chop the feet off. Also never feel like you can’t size up - sizing is a guide!! I followed it religiously with DC1 and loooign backing it was silly because he was clearly in the wrong size sometimes but I refused to ignore the labels

MrsWidgerysLodger · 06/11/2024 22:35

Echoing the Verbaudet recommendations. DD was skinny but LONG. their babywear always fitted her well and the clothes continue ntondonso now she's 7

Peopleinmyphone · 06/11/2024 22:42

I buy h&m trousers for my tall skinny child, not sure if the baby clothes would also be good for long babies though but I'm guessing so. (Mine was actually a little chunk as a baby then grew into a beanpole, so I discovered h&m jeans for him at the age of about 5)
