Medical proof for whiplash

Currently having an argument with dh and posting here for traffic as I'm at my wits end after a really poo few days.

Monday I was happily driving back from my allotment in my brand new car when a teenage girl rear ended me when I was stationary at a crossing. Thankfully nobody was injured but it was a heck of a shunt forward. I got a raging head ache and whiplash symptoms within an hour and was so shook up and sore I just came home and went to bed. The adrenaline rush floored me when it run Out. Yesterday I had a phone consult with my Gp surgery, got pain relief and topical stuff and some other cream as the collision took the top off the shingles scabs on my back and boy does it hurt . I am still struggling with shingles symptoms like skin/nerve pain and tiredness etc and I can't currently wear a top as it's sensitive. Im just sat here with my baps out as the slightest touch is agony. I am also currently clinically vulnerable couldn't / didn't want to go to the surgery hence the phone appointment.

The AIBU is my dh says that's not enough and my " medical proof" to pursue any claim has to be a f2f appointment with a medical somebody to assess me. I've also spoken to my rheumatologist nurse today as the incident has pushed me into my 1st serious flare in 3 years. Surely these two calls will be enough and he's being OTT.?

If he's right il cry as I'm like a zombie from the walking dead but with huge boobs that I can't cover up 😂

I'm working on the assumption that you are wanting to go for compensation.

I think he's right. You would need medical evidence of some description, otherwise anyone could phone the doctor and say what you've said. Sorry, that's not me disbelieving you, but plenty of people have tried it.

I think you'd also be disappointed in what you'd get.

I think you need to find out from your insurer what evidence they need to make a claim for compensation. You might also simultaneously contact your GP and ask them for a letter of proof that they are treating you for whiplash.

In my personal experience, it’s very difficult to extract any sort of evidence out of the GP. I am currently being treated for cancer, have had multiple surgeries since the summer and have been off sick. My GP will not write a sick note. I’ve been asking for 4 months now. They will put nothing in writing despite it all being noted in detail on my record. It’s been a real point of contention with my employer who needs evidence I am actually off sick and not making this up.

Well I'm already disappointed as my car is a mess and it's got less than 200 miles on the clock and a £250 car seat that was only purchased and fitted 4 days before the accident. I know it was an accident but I'm gutted, my first car was burnt out in August and I had to come home early from holiday and deal with all that insurance for emergency flights, replacing the car etc and here I am again. Sometimes life just feels very unfair.

Looks like il have to go to the walk in or gp in person tomorrow 😭

Just in case anybody finds this wanting to know the same thing, called my insurance this morning and they seem to think that a Gp saying it doesn’t need an in person app and being happy to treat it based on accident description and symptom descriptions is enough. They have referred me to a solicitor and they are getting a medical assessment sorted out for me. Now just got to wait for a courtesy car and then repairs can be done to my car.
