To think this could be ADHD

I do worry about this.

Dropped DS at nursery at 745. Picked him up 430.

And he has not stopped. Charging around, leaping on the sofa, hurtling madly.

He exhausts me tbh.

What age is he? My DS was like this from he was walking. We are currently on the waiting list for ADHD as he's now 9 and still the same.

Nearly 4. Just completely mental.

If that’s the only sign I wouldn’t think ADHD at this age. If it is it’ll become more apparent when they’re 6/8.

That sounds like lots of four year olds tbh - including DS at that age.

He is now 8 and has to be crowbarred out of bed and dragged to activities like a typical tweenager (and has also discovered sarcasm - “I LOVE swimming, swimming is SO EXCITING 🙄”)

I look back at the bouncy toddler/preschooler phase with fondness. It doesn’t last past the end of Reception IME.

Impossible to know at that age
Loads/most 4 year olds are like this.

That hyperactivity can actually be tiredness. If he's had a full on day at nursery he might be tired.

I have 2 boys with adhd. Boys do hurtle around madly. All. The. Time. My adhd boys never stopped talking, that was the difference. They were impulsive, they absolutely stood out from their peers. A friend had triplets and my oldest was hands down harder work than all three of hers

Sounds more like over tiredness to me - thats a long day for him. My DD is like this - she doesn't get sleepy, she gets wired and progressively wilder. I take her out for a run around after tea most nights with a torch!

This is reassuring.

I was reading a thread about tired children after nursery and looking at ds like Hmm

My little dude's ADHD was pretty obvious from about 18 months (we started wondering at 12 months, by 18 months we were certain) and yes at 3/4 he was exactly as you describe. He's still the same at 5, wont be assessed until he turns 6 but 2 x NHS paediatricians, Occupational Therapist, 2 x Educational Psychologists and the teachers in his specialist setting all agree his hyperactivity and impulsivity are definitely well beyond what you'd expect from a regular very energetic child, and are confident an ADHD diagnosis will follow next year.
My other two were very lively, especially super bouncy DS1, but littlest is off the scale and on a whole different level to 'very lively'. It's exhausting, fun, worrying and wonderful parenting him, certainly never boring.
The nursery can support a GP referral if you are thinking you'd like to pursue assessment (ours did, they had additional funding for him from the council too) - waiting lists are very long and they don't assess before the age of 6 but under 6s can be referred onto the waiting list.
