On LBC he mentioned he spent all of yesterday outside a polling station in Pennsylvania, and today he was giving interviews 'ha ha haing' at various British journalists.

Is Parliament in recess? Why isn't he here, working as a MP?

pretty sure Labour HQ sent about 100 members of staff to help with the Harris campaign.

They did

Members of the party did volunteer to go over there, but I do not think MPs were among them?

onmibus · 06/11/2024 17:25

Let's hope he stays there. Fingers crossed!

Menopausalsourpuss · 06/11/2024 17:25

Why do you care? The only people who should care are his constituents. Tbh it's a shame Labour mps don't spend more time abroad, they'd do less damage here.

Adelstrop · 06/11/2024 17:29

He wasn’t sure where Clacton was, and took a wrong turning,

Scrimt · 06/11/2024 17:30

He's grifting and bum licking of course.

English MPs do go abroad to support elections.
with trump now in charge over there - we might be glad to have someone who is in with him, even if it is farage. Our foreign secretary called him a sociopath, so that is going to be a trade problem straight from the get go.

I disagree. Trump understands these kinds of trade negotiations smack talk.

AutumnLeaves24 · 06/11/2024 17:36

The things people have time to care about 🙇🏻‍♀️

Figgygal · 06/11/2024 17:38

Avoiding doing what should be his actual job and generally grifting

Pleasebeafleabite · 06/11/2024 17:41

At least someone in the UK parliament has a good working relationship with the incoming president. Probably slightly more useful to the UK than listening to the woes of Clacton residents’ gripes over their rubbish collections.

Perhaps Lammy could pop to Clacton and cover for him.

Staff - not MPs

He’s showing support for Donald Trump who is a friend of his. He flew out to support him after he was shot as well. I don’t understand why anyone would think it odd.

Except then Trump didn't see him. It's odd because Parliament is not in recess and we pay his wages

Beetlebumz · 06/11/2024 17:47

Justcallmebebes · 06/11/2024 16:29

The same reason various labour members and mps were in the US campaigning for Harris

Nah don't think so.

Topseyt123 · 06/11/2024 17:47

He's licking Trump's arse. They've been friends for years. Horrendous pair. They are well suited.

Beetlebumz · 06/11/2024 17:48

Hope he stays there and never comes back.

Floralnomad · 06/11/2024 17:50

Perhaps they’ll keep him , they are welcome .

Eyesopenwideawake · 06/11/2024 17:52

He was there supporting his mate and shoring up the friendship.

VeraYin · 06/11/2024 18:21

Surely it's good for the UK that he's such good chums with the leader of the free world?

Keir and Co have screwed over the UK by alienating Trump, that's hardly in the UKs interest.

True. Especially when there's potential tariffs in the offing and funding for defence re NATO

Lonelycrab · 06/11/2024 19:14

Anyone thinking Farage holds any sway with Trump I think is going to be disappointed. At the rally Trump held a day or two back, Farage was introduced as “….from Europe” (lol)

Trump barely knows who he is and will be far too busy looking in the mirror at himself and on the golf course to be actively engaging with other countries; he wants tariffs on all imports which will damage the U.K. and many others, and those who are around him will be the ones implementing those policies, they won’t care or even know who Farage is.

So Farage will hoover up his MPs salary while doing absolutely zero for his constituents or those he represents, just as he did as an MEP.

MiscellaneousSupportHuman · 06/11/2024 19:22

Loads of MPs go off on fact finding trips or other bilateral visits (or even IACGMOOH)

It's up to their constituents really, how much of this they'll put up with

You think Trump will drop the tariffs if you admire his hair do? He blanked Gove and Johnson when they wanted a trade deal.

Me personally? I’m not in the US and have zero thoughts on a hair do. Someone said they liked Reeves’ hair on here the other day maybe it was that poster

On the flip side promoting legal action over Labour activists and flinging insults a la Lammy or Khan, and provoking Musk, is probably not the best way to deal with Trump
