To have done nothing but watch TV with kids today

They are young (3 and 1.)

It isn’t normal for us to be fair but I am conscious all they’ve done is watch TV. Well, one had a nap while I took the other to the supermarket.

We have had a very busy half term and one has an ear infection, but still.

What a lovely relaxing day with your little ones. People tie themselves up in knots staying busy but a cosy autumn day in front of the telly is always a good thing. 💐

TheHighPriestess1 · 02/11/2024 17:39

and???

StarSlinger · 02/11/2024 17:41

Seems okay to me. We all need down days.

Changingplace · 02/11/2024 17:41

I don’t think it’s necessary to always be dashing about all over the place, a chilled day in front of the tv every once in a while is absolutely fine.

Where did the OP say she left the 1 alone? Why do people on here make shit like this up?

Createausername1970 · 02/11/2024 17:44

I have spent most of the day in my PJs watching Christmas movies on Great!

DS is all grown up now, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with down days at home. There is no need to be out every day "doing".

I wish I could spend a whole day watching tv with my 18 month old. He's only entertained by it for an hour or so and then he's just dying to do something active or go outside

Where does she say that?

BabyCloud · 02/11/2024 17:46

Kids need to learn to have nothing days too. Plus it’s good for them
to relax and play

Edited

I don’t know 😂

It is a weekend @PuffDiddy

I know there are single parent households and I know that some people work weekends but nonetheless - a tiny, tiny bit of imagination?

I am glad others aren’t berating me. I do feel guilty.

I did this once when I had COVID, I felt really bloody guilty about it. But tbh theres no harm in a day of tv on the odd occasion, just a day off. Kids are bloody hard work.

I've definitely done this a few times. I did feel guilty at the time but actually everyone needs a chill out day sometimes. I don't think it does any harm

NoSquirrels · 02/11/2024 17:50

Presumably the other parent who watched the child while you went to the supermarket also hasn’t done any exciting activities with the kids either, so why do you feel like it’s your responsibility?

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 02/11/2024 17:51

Tbf, I read it the same way, but then I'm basking in the fact that my one year old finally naps independently, and now grumpy because he definitely wouldn't nap during a supermarket trip.

Threelittleduck · 02/11/2024 17:51

Pretty much exactly what we've done today. We are going out for the day tomorrow so I think that equals it out. Well that's what I'm telling myself anyway 😀

Laptoppie · 02/11/2024 17:51

Don't feel guilty, it's nice to have days like this. If this is all you did day in day out then sure that's a problem, but sounds lovely and chilled which is needed at times.

GroovyChick87 · 02/11/2024 17:53

It's fine, we've had a similar day. They've been on ipads and watched TV while I've got my housework done. It's been a dark, dull day and I had a few packages I needed to wait in for anyway.

And you thought I left one alone while the other napped rather than assume on a weekend day another parent was around. Sure.

One year old napped at home with DH while I took three year old to supermarket, for the slow amongst us.

WYorkshireRose · 02/11/2024 18:02

@PuffDiddy nothing about OPs post implied single parenting whatsoever. There's nothing to infer either way.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 02/11/2024 18:31

Sounds like a lovely day. Growing up, even when I was well into my teenage years my mum, sister and I would cuddle up in her bed and watch TV and they are such lovely memories. Our favourite was always Criminal Minds and now when I'm sick I cuddle up in bed with the dogs and watch it.
