OHraging at me for being late home for dog. Out with my bestie, first time in a year, got carried away with the vino. Got home 2 hrs later than anticipated l I never do this and we’ve been together for 20 years. He’s doing my nut in, no harm done IMO. I’m upset because I had this carry on with my ex. I thought I’d moved on.

You’re not a child. You can choose to stay out later than you expected. You don’t answer to him.

Flossflower · 01/11/2024 22:22

I think your OH just doesn’t like you being out with someone else. It is control and you should not put up with it.

buttonsB4 · 01/11/2024 22:58

Tell your OH to point to the exact spot that your dog supposedly pooed because you want to ensure it's clean.

Ask him which products he used to clear it up; is there a bag in the outdoor bin for example with the faeces in?

It seems a bit extreme but this feels like a controlling/punishing move from your OH because you dared to have a couple of hours to yourself, and it seems unlikely that a healthy dog would poo in the house after being left alone for just 2 hours.

Apparently it was #2 . But according to ring camera timeline I find it hard to believe. OH arrive home 6.30. Oh takes dog out 6.37, I arrive 6.50. No evidence of dog mess ie smell etc, OH return with dog 6.55. I’m bloody mad and don’t trust myself to speak

Definitely not enough time for him to clean up poo/wee and do a turn around for a walk in 7 mins.

I thought from your previous comment he got home at 6 and you at 6.16?

BadgersOfHonour · 01/11/2024 23:30

2 hours? That's absolutely fine! What the hell is his problem? Does he not like you socialising generally or does he dislike your friend?

Pussycat22 · 01/11/2024 23:53

I ain't half got a feeling of deja vu occuring here!! Nip it in the budnow. Go out for as long as YOU like otherwise fella we I'll have got you where he wants you. Assert your autonomy.

Pussycat22 · 01/11/2024 23:54

Fella will have got you where he wants you. Bloody predictive text.

The dog is 6 years old. He was alone for 2 hours. He had been out all day with dogwalker ( from 9 to 4) Oh got home at 6 I got home at 6.16

Absolute nonsense that the dog had an accident then, unless it’s poorly (which I assume it’s not if it’s been with a dog walker all day without any issues).

Call his bluff, tell him the dog is clearly unwell given the circumstances and needs to go to the vet’s to check it’s not becoming incontinent.

DecafDodger · 02/11/2024 11:43

Dogs can have accidents, sure, but it's still not reasonable to expect that you will never leave the dog's side, ever. Is he as controlling with other things?
