AIBU to think baby's room should be babyproofed?

My 18 month year old keeps bumping his head in the nursery resulting in cuts and bruises - almost on on weekly basis.
He never got hurt like that at home - it's not that he never stumbles or falls - it is because we babyproofed our home. Sensibly. Softer furnishings, bumpers on very sharp corners/edges, we do have chairs tables shelves - it is just that the edges are not knife sharp but more on the rounded and the polished side.

The nursery baby room however is full of questionable toys (not exactly what you'd find in a shop under the 18 month section), very sharp shelving at toddlers/baby head level etc...
When I ask about the injuries they respond oh it's completely normal for babies to fall and get bumps.
And I agree - but it is not normal for them to hit a sharp object every time they stumble. To me it shows an unsafe environment.
But I'd feel like crazy (or at least patronising) if I were to explain to an established nursery how I think they should be arranging the baby room furniture.
What can I do to minimise the chances of injuries there ?

Why would you leave your baby in an environment that you don't think is safe or suitable? Did you not view the nursery before making the decision to use it?

Of course I reviewed it and it seemed ok at the times of my visit. The staff is lovely and caring. They also always assure me that this is all perfectly normal. But I don't know anymore, this is why I am asking for experiences.
