So I’ve been dating someone for the last 3-4 months, and in that time I’ve had quite a few health issues which ended up in an operation. He has been amazing through all of it - being there for me, taking care of me afterwards, just an absolute spot on guy.

I’ve been wanting to get him a little something to say thank you for everything that he has done, and he mentioned in conversation the other day that he needed a new wallet. He quite likes sentimental items so I’ve found a really lovely wallet where I could have his initials engraved on the front and a little message inside - we have a saying that we say often to each other along the lines of thank you for filling my days with smiles and laughter and thank you for being you - that I was thinking might be quite nice to include as I know for a fact he would smile everytime he opened his wallet to read it.

The only thing I’m not quite sure about is because we haven’t been together that long, whether a gift like this would potentially be ‘too much’?

AIBU?

I think it sounds lovely! But if you’re worried, maybe don’t have a message engraved inside. It might feel less intensely personal that way. You could get a little credit-card sized card and write the message on it, and he can choose to keep that in the wallet.

The idea above is brilliant.

That’s an amazing idea, I feel a lot more confident about that, thank you so much! X

Don’t gift an empty wallet @TheNightmareBeforeChristmas21! You need to include some money - a coin! It’s meant to be good luck and ensure the wallet is never empty.

As PP said , what a lovely gesture. Wishing you recovery and an everlasting relationship!
