Is it ok to use parent and child spaces at 27 weeks pregnant?

There have been a few times recently where my husband has had to move my car out of parking spaces, because the car next to me has parked too close and I can't get in.

I have a large car and always park sensibly and carefully, but people seem to come along and park close to me, so I then can't get back in the car because I'm 27 weeks pregnant. In one case I was there alone and a very kind stranger had to move my car out of the space for me because I couldn't get in!

I hate to take up a parent and child space for someone who actually has a young child with them, but would I be unreasonable to start using one of these spaces now?

They're a courtesy and anyone can park in them anyway, and lots do. Nothing can be done about that as it's not a law that you don't park in them, just a request. So just do it, if you want to.

The worst that can happen is if a private company decides to give you a parking notice, and you can appeal that. If you ever do get a private company parking notice NEVER pay it as that is an admission of guilt, gather evidence and dispute it.

I actually think this is a situation where you think you need to use them now, but when you have the baby with the car seat, pram, trolley etc you’ll realise you didn’t really.

This. You're only 27 weeks, unless there's a back story and you're expecting triplets the struggling to get out of the car because of other cars parked too close to you would still happen regardless of the pregnancy.
By me you only get P+C spaces at the supermarkets, wait until you need to park on a council run car park and you're struggling to get your baby/toddler in and out of the car when you're parked in a normal parking space. The number of times I've had to climb through the boot, or had to abandon my child to pull the car forward to get them back in the car, yes it's annoying but you just have to get on with it.

You are a parent, with child. Use the space!

It’s not like it’s governed in law. If you feel you need to use it then use it. If others have a problem with it, stuff em.
Such a British thing. What a waste of energy to worry about such things.
