Rude staff

On the whole most staff are polite and respectful. Though I have been to some shops and pubs and a minority of staff have anger management issues slamming things down that you are buying, slamming down products and talking to customers like dirt. I am always polite and respectful to staff yet this minority are hostile to myself and other members of the public.

I don’t know if Covid lockdowns has made people become more anti social. I just don’t get why the people work in customer service if they don’t like it and think it is ok to be nasty to staff. I work in customer service so I understand how busy it gets and I am always respectful to customers. I leave positive company feedback when I have received good service.

The rudeness just makes going out unpleasant. I would never dream of being rude to a customer.

I went to the market the other day to buy some bread. I was stood there waiting patiently while the two young girls working there were having a full gossiping session right in front of me. After a few minutes one of them looked at me with surprise and was like 'oh sorry didn't see you there' I felt like saying alright Stevie Wonder, but I kept my boomer comment to myself. Then she completely gave me the wrong things I asked for. Like seriously it's fucking bread not Wall Street. And relax

I generally get what you're saying, but the "don't get why people work in customer service if they don't like it" comment is pretty tone deaf.

Plenty people work in jobs they don't like because they have to. Probably makes them pretty miserable into the bargain.

I think there are a lot of people who are just burnt out since Covid, but who aren’t in a position to get a different job. As a whole, the general public are bloody awful. They’re so used to being abused and/or spoken to like they’re sub human, they start to see customers as one homogeneous mass, unless they’re a regular who they know isn’t going to be horrible to them.

My husband works in CS because he was made redundant and couldn't find anything else. He hates it but remains polite while dealing with customers. I wish I could say the same about the customers, who shout, swear, demand things he can't give them, threaten him...the list is long of how rude customers can be.

I'm actually considering not going out anymore 😂 every encounter I've had over the past 2 weeks have left me feeling that if I never speak to another person again I'm fine with it
