Had second molar out

Hi I’m just wondering has anyone had a molar out and not had it replaced. I’m a lot more upset and anxious than I thought I would be. I’ve just the extraction but all of a sudden I’m paranoid. And I’m only 30 😭

I've had a top molar out. It was too expensive to replace it so I haven't bothered. Tbh nobody else can really see. I guess it depends whether it's top or bottom. I think an implant was £2k.

Ye iv had to have quite a few out because my mother had to have medical treatment while pregnant which affected the enamel on my teeth (don’t ask what as I don’t know all the details except that it was treatment for cancer)

so I had to have a lot of teeth out growing up

as an adult iv had several back molars out and due another one out next month after a few appointments that has ended in a failed root canal.

none of them have been replaced. Either not an option or not had the money etc.

It’s tender for a while especially straight after but eventually the gums toughen up and eating is absolutely not an issue. The areas that are without a tooth work exactly the same as if a tooth was there.

if you look at me from the outside no one would know! smile is unaffected and cheeks have not despite the lack of some teeth sunken.

i have been lucky enough that my smile is safe and the small molars next to the incisors are so far safe. So that helps as it isn’t noticeable in conversations or smiling etc

my advice is do everything you can to save the smile but don’t feel disheartened if you need a few molars out over the years because it’s fine honestly and doesn’t really affect life too much long term.
obviously I’m not saying it doesn’t matter, we only get one set but at the same time it’s not the end of the world either @Overkastkid

I didn't even think they could be replaced! I've got one molar left on my right hand side.
The only I've found (and it took ages to realise what was happening) is that the remaining teeth move a bit, so my bite doesn't line up, and I get pain in my ear via my lower cheek if I sleep on that side.

Sorry to add

I would have a chat with the dentist though to make sure that you are doing everything correctly to avoid future issues in other teeth, probably not but they might have some advice for you.

my situation is a bit different so there’s not a huge amount I can do to change my situation (except the normal that we are all meant to)

@RunningAwayToJoinTheCircus made a good point to yes they do move around if you have a lot out

I’ve got both molars on the left missing. My face has sunk in a bit on the side but 2 implants is well over £5k so 🤷
