I'm at my wits end ! iPads !!
How long does your child spend / allowed on their iPad for ?

Depends on the age of the child and what they are doing. Ours is 15 and she uses iPad mainly for drawing so we don't restrict as it is creative practice.

I refer to the iPads as the other parent in the house 😅
I'm a single parent and they are the only way I survive and I feel absolutely zero guilt.
Hours I'd say.. hours and hours

@ilovecushionsandflowers this. DS5 gets quite a bit of screen time, and really I take it at face value instead of buying into the idea it's evil. So what if he's watching an educational video/playing a spelling game whilst I'm prepping dinner! I can't find it in me to get worked up over it.

That being said, if he was getting addicted/showing signs of withdrawing from real life/became rude about not being allowed it at times, I would limit it more.

Sorry I completely forgot to reply on here ! My dc is literally obsessed with hers and it's getting a bit much I'll ask her to pop and get her book or something from upstairs and I get " in a minute I'm just watching this" or can I take my iPad with me, I'm thinking of limiting it but not sure how long will be okay a day, she's not playing or even interested in anything but the iPad which is really sad xx

Kids 6 and 8, they don't go on the iPad every day, maybe two or three times a week for an hour or two at a time

Muthaofcats · 17/11/2024 14:04

Only ever get iPads out for long car journeys - any drives under an hour we don’t.
They watch a bit of tv as they get dressed in the morning and after school in the evening to relax. They’re allowed to play computer games for an hour at the weekend after they’ve done homework.

Tristar15 · 17/11/2024 14:05

I think if it starts becoming all they want to do or take it everywhere it is an issue. My DD has a tablet and uses it in the house as and when but the rule is as soon as I say turn it off she has to with no fuss. It’s not allowed out of the house at restaurants etc and as long as she does her homework, spellings, reads everyday etc then I’m pretty relaxed with it. If you think it’s becoming an issue then put some restrictions in place.

howluckyami25 · 17/11/2024 15:43

She's a very good little girl in general I feel gutted I've let it over rule if that makes sense!
She does a lot of swimming dance other sport etc she does an after school sport every day during the week but when she's home it's tablet constant ! I think I'm going to have to put restriction on it as bad as it makes me feel I know in the long run it'll be better as she's becoming so lazy.
She doesn't take the iPad out the house we've always stuck to that rule it cost too much to risk a break ! Xx

Primary school aged, 30 mins screen time a day and at the weekend we often watch an hour together.

Mine could go on games or iPads for a good few hours at a time however for me it’s all about balance. Mine also play lots of sports. DS played nearly two hours of Rugby this morning. He Plays lots of football also. My daddy does a lot of sports and Guitar lessons. I let them go on it whenever they want really. I find want things more when there’s restrictions involved. But that’s just my DC.
