We (DH, 2 DD, aunt and uncle) were in a shop that sold little wooden toys (£2.50 each), and aunt and uncle told DD (3) that she could choose a little toy for her and her sister. She chose two and aunt went to pay. She came back, DD was very excited and got them back out of the bag, said thank you, and started playing with them.
It wasn't until we got back to the car that we realised that there weren't just two little wooden toys in the pram, but three! Two are identical, we assume as neither DD can tell us (other DD isn't even 1 yet) that when big DD was showing her little sister the toys she gave her one to hold, and we then assumed that was the one that had been paid for when actually there was another one in the bag. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind it was an accident and not deliberate from DD, but I do feel a bit guilty that we've ended up with an identical second toy, even if it is only £2.50.
Do I take said toy back, even though it would cost more in petrol and parking than the actual toy is worth? Or gift it to someone else/ keep it?!
