Headisspinningnow · 26/10/2024 23:35

Is the change that messes with the kids sleep and makes things harder or is that the other clock change?
Realise I sound like I don’t know what i’m

This is the one that puts it right.

I'm not sure but I remember feeling rage when people used to say 'Oooh an extra hour in bed'.

I used to think 'Yeah, tell that to the kids' 🤬

They used to wake up every morning at 6 so I didn't appreciate the clock telling me it was 5am!

Headisspinningnow · 26/10/2024 23:39

@PickAChew They get better sleep? But are we losing an hour, if we wake at 7 am, it will say 6 am, so they’ll be up and the day will be even longer?

I find it's easier to get mine to bed in the first place as it's dark outside...

This one works better when it comes at the end of half-term - then you can just let bedtime drift later during half-term, and then the clock-change puts it right again.

It’ll be ok when they’re older and you get the excitement of the extra hour back!

When I studied Biology at university 20-odd years ago I was taught that we, as humans, have an average 25-hour circadian rhythm. Going by that, this extra hour should do us good and be a little reset. I wonder how much more research has gone into it all since then.

Children very quickly adjust and yes, I find they get tired earlier with it being darker outside.
