It's been a month since I was diagnosed and I'm so miserable as I'm so hungry.
Not to mention how expensive it is for much smaller portions.
I've gained so much weight in the month, my iron is low as shit, I'm struggling at work because as soon as I eat any foods I'm on the toilet.
I'm just so fed up Sad

Wheat is an issue with Hashimoto's disease which is a thyroid thing. I know it is horrible to have to adjust your diet particularly if you have no clear diagnosis but once that is sorted you will probably feel better than you have for years - I hope so anyway.

OP I have limited energy too. When I cook I tend to make enough for 3-4 meals. I can then have it for two nights (& only have to cook rice, pasta etc) and put some in the freezer. If I'm then tired / feeling ill I can take something out the freezer and have a dinner with v little effort. (Although I live on my own, if I was cooking for a family I'd find it harder to do this as you'd eat it in one sitting)

I think don't try to change loads of things at once. You're getting used to being gf, let that settle for a while and then maybe look at new recipes etc. Anyone would struggle completely changing every aspect of your diet. I hope you start to feel better soon.

It would be a good idea to keep a food diary before you go to the dietician.
First appointments are often a bit general and then you get told to keep an in and out food diary and come back in a month.
Food in with full ingredients or what brand it is and timings and drinks. Also include food out (toilet) and symptoms.

I think you'd probably cry if you had to go dairy free as well.

Is the doctor treating your thyroid?

I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish, OP.

Food issues suck big time. Not like you can avoid eating.

Hopefully this is a low point and things will gradually improve.

If you can't face going dairy free, try lactofree milk, yoghurt etc. It's still dairy but easier to digest. I can tolerate enough of it to have some of the milk in my morning coffee.

OP, sorry you are having such a rubbish time. No wonder you are feeling low.
My go to treat is M&S gf ginger snaps - really really good biscuits. Their coffee and walnut cake is excellent too.
I hope things get easier for you soon.

the coffee and walnut cake is delicious. Could honestly eat the whole thing in one go.
