I Am taking my mum for her Birthday in November, my aunt is coming too
she has said we need to hire an outfit and it needs to be something like you’d wear for a wedding ?!

Help - how dressy does an outfit need to be to go to the ritz in london? Btw I never wear dresses ,? 😬

Just where a dress or anything smart. No jeans

You definitely don't need to hire anything. It is quite formal but more restrictive for men. Woman just need to be smart I.e no jeans or trainers. Most were wearing a dress

This is from the FAQs on their website:

The Ritz London has a dress code in different areas of the hotel as follows: Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie (jeans and sportswear are not permitted for either ladies or gentlemen) for Afternoon Tea and for lunch and dinner in The Ritz Restaurant and Terrace. In all other areas of the hotel (The Ritz Restaurant breakfast service, The Rivoli Bar and The Long Gallery), smart casual attire is required. Please note that shorts, trainers and sportswear are not permitted in any of the hotel’s restaurants or bars.

Unless you want to stick out like sore thumbs, do not dress as if going to a wedding.

I've been a couple of times and just worn a regular smart casual day dress 🤷🏻‍♀️
People definitely don't dress like they're going to a wedding!

I went for my fortieth many years ago and wore a dress but there was a huge range of outfits from trousers/skirts with nice blouses to a couple of women who came in laden with shopping bags wearing sandals, maxi skirts and vest tops. You definitely don’t need to look like you’re going to a wedding.

Wear whatever you would wear if going for lunch in a smart restaurant. That might be a dress and ankle boots, or trousers and a shirt/knit. No denim/no trainers is about the only rule.

No need for wedding type clothing - a normal day dress is good. Definitely no trainers - I've seen ladies refused entry for wearing trainers with dresses/skirts.

The outfit you have chosen is very on point, and you will look amazing as will your daughter , personally I'd go with the cream, and add a silver or gold shoe , but you must do you, I'm much older than you are but have always loved to dress up, if you feel fabulous , that's all that counts , go for it, you sound like a hard working but modest woman, ignore the green eyed people who dislike your choices or your daughter's. Dress up take lots of photos and have an amazing time , it sounds lovely and I wish you all the best and a happy birthday to your lovely 16 Yr old
