To think that joggers should stop and look

before running out from behind a builders' van straight in front of my car, causing me to slam on the breaks and nearly have a heart attack?

Thank goodness I didn't have any passengers. I am still quaking because it was a near miss.

Silly women had the nerve to gare at me. They were very lucky I was well within the speed limit or they would have been squashed flat.

yep fox - we all just knew he would miss. Somehow it was written he would!!
Still, giving Barca 2/3rds of the pitch and they still could'nt score is a nice sign. Roll on next Tuesday!!

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 19:42

roll on Saturday!

ClairePO · 24/04/2008 19:49

"I think they should let cyclists through the reds when it's green for pedestrians (iyswim)"

They already do that in London, you have to take your life into your hands as a pedestrian when crossing when the green man is on.

PaninoPan · 24/04/2008 19:51

Sat. no problem. We just need a penalty aqnd for the boy to bust the net with it.

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 19:52

no, I meant the green man for the other side of the traffic iyswim

but yes, I always stop at ped crossings check for the cars and then check again for the cyclists who are about to run over my toes

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 19:53

LOL at no problem .

I imagine we will be without Lampard now (poor lad). I am just hoping Drogba has his shooting boots on.

I still think you will win the title, even if we win on Saturday, but it will make it v exciting if we do win.

PaninoPan · 24/04/2008 20:01

See you in Moscow then! That late goal will have stuffed the life out of the belief of Liverpool...and they last scored at SB when Chopper Harris was "gracing" the pitch!!

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 20:04

oh how I laughed when that goal went in. JUSTICE. That's what I call it. We were due a late goal like that!

I would rather play ManU in Moscow (dh would rather play Barcelona).

But honestly, the way we are playing at the moment, I think we will be lucky to get into the final even with the SB home game record on our side. We are going to pieces too often!

PaninoPan · 24/04/2008 20:11

Yes, I, and most other Reds aren't too concerned as to who we play. It's only going to go one way!! One of the many greatthings about this Utd side is Ferguson's utter confidence he has in all of his players. Ji (retail) Park is a 'squad' player, but he was able to put him in with every confidence.

and yes, as adversed to Chelsea, Utd never crumble and can adjust to most circs with aplomb.

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 20:53

lol

apart from a penalty in the first 5 minutes in the Nou Camp

I think he uses Park v well, to the best of his ability certainly.

I thought Messi gave you guys the run around a bit yesterday but they are a shadow of their former selves Barcelona. I can't see them causing you too much trouble at OT if you play reasonably OK.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are very fired up and only have the CL to think about now. And will be doubly fired up after Riise's gift I think. Perhaps one of them will be sent off!

PaninoPan · 24/04/2008 21:23

yes he had Giggs on the bench who has seen it all before, but played Park instead.

And do you go for this "we've lost this now so we can now concentrate on that." argument?? I just don't buy it. Losing saps confidence, wining bolsters it. Leeds demise can be traced right back t olosing in the FA Cup at Cardiff all those years ago. We did the Treble on the basis that scoring as many goals as you can and winnig games becomes a habit. And...matches are generally won and lost well before the game IYSWIM....

Odd with Grant - you're about to have one of the best season's finish, and he is going to get booted!! After being there for less than one season. Madness!!??

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 21:31

well I tend to think the players are doing it rather than him. Some of his substitutions and game plans have been barking (like the Barnsley game). I think we are doing well despite him rather than because of him (and I'm still not sure we're doing well....). Having said that, following Mourinho...was never going to be easy. He has never endeared himself to the fans and I'm not sure the players either. So very hard when everyone knows he was put in place because he was a mate of a boss.

No, I don't go for the 'we can concentrate on this now' BUT with Liverpool, they've got what they need in the league and can't really do much more so it's not a case of losing something and therefore going for another but being able to rest players and keep them match fit. Something both you and I are going to struggle with I think (injuries, sickness) though the squads should be able to deal with it.

Did you enjoy the game the other night? Has it given you a taste for going again?

amytheearwaxbanisher · 24/04/2008 21:31

yesterday a little girl about 2 ran out into the road and thank god i dont speed or she would have been killed she was with her mother who didnt notice until i was at a complete stop waiting for her to get the poor child off the road

PaninoPan · 24/04/2008 21:40

ooh it was fabbo, thanks!! It's all so much more visceral when it's in front of you in the flesh. I even swore once or twice!!

but, the cost is absurd. £44 for 90 mins of footie isn't a deal to me, even watching the team playing the best footie around. The chaps I went with showed hallmarks of being OCD about Utd, and there's other things to do with my time/money. Nice blokes but live and breathe the team!! Have you gotten to SB or is it off the agenda??

foxinsocks · 24/04/2008 21:45

I used to go a lot but I haven't been this season. I've gone off it a bit (going live) especially since I've been back at work full time. Somehow the thought of cramming myself back on a train, then a tube and sacrificing what is, basically, a whole day seems silly when I haven't seen the kids or dh all week! That probably sounds a bit pathetic but it's true.

There is SO much on TV now too. It is unbelievably expensive watching live isn't it. Dh now takes ds to the odd game as a special treat and I love that - I'm pleased they go together and it means I get time with dd.

But the occasional live game is good for the spirits isn't it! It's a great emotional let-out being able to scream and shout and get involved.
