Diet and exercise

Posting for traffic!

I hate cooking, I find it boring, there are no meals that I look forward to eating.
I don't exercise, again, boring and makes me feel crappy.
I have pcos and need to lose weight. I also want to set a good example for my children.

So quick, simple meals that are gluten free, vegetarian and dairy free if possible.
What exercise can i do? How do I make it more bearable?

Tips to break the habit of existing on crisps and coke?

Genuinely please help

OP, well done on looking after your DC when you had such a difficult childhood, food-wise.

Take some of the food you make for DC before the meat goes in and eat it yourself with them. Eating together as a family is really good behaviour modelling for our DC. If it feels gross, just give yourself a very small portion for the first month. Build it up gradually.

You've clearly overcome some huge hurdles in your life. As others have said, choose one idea here and make it habit, then build on that with another small change and so on.

I think you need to tackle the fact that you don't do things because you find them boring.

Some things are boring but you need to do them anyway.

Totally agree with this.

No. People are allowed to grow and change and try to better themselves.
I'm sorry you have such an issue with me.

I have coeliac disease so gluten is a no go, I've been vegetarian since I was a toddler and although I cook meat for the kids the process, the smell, everything makes me feel sick. I have a dairy intolerance which sends me running to the loo but thats the thing I'm happy to compromise on because I know my diet is limited

Eggs, nuts and seeds. If you don’t get enough protein your body will keep telling you that you’re hungry so you keep eating. You will take in more than calories than your body needs.

If you can’t have dairy (can you tolerate lactose free) and aren’t eating meat (fish?) then you need to work hard to make sure you get enough protein, calicum, vitamin B12 and iodine.

Use your kids for exercise.
Go for walks in parks and forests. Walk to the shops.
Play football, throw a frisbee, play catch and dodgeball.
Go for bike rides.
At home - blast some music and dance, have a pillow fight, do a 10 min exercise video from YouTube together

Lentils and pulses are quick and easy. You can Chuck everything in and let it cook.
Omelettes
Baked potatoes
Roasted veg with chickpeas
Veg stews

What do you hope to gain from this?

I'd suggest following glucose goddess on insta/ticktoc and reading her book 'glucose revolution " x

Are you competitive? If so, playing games can have you exercising without being boring. My family plays at a squash club which also has a padel court and it just feels like family time rather than exercising.

Go on Mindful Chef. They do a section of freezer meals which come frozen and you pop them in the freezer. They have no rubbish in them, they have vegetarian options and dairy free options and they microwave in 10 mins or take about 30-40 mins in the oven. They also list the calories etc on there and have high protein, low calorie, family friendly bundles etc. I always have a few in the freezer for days when time runs away with me and I’m tempted to shove a quick pizza in the oven. Soup is also an easy one.

You can also look at meal prep boxes like Gousto, Hello Fresh, Mindful Chef also do them - where it all comes pre-portioned out and with full instructions. When ordering you can usually see how long they take to cook so choose quicker ones.

Get rid of your crisps and coke - don’t have them in the house if you’ll be tempted. Have nuts, fruit, Greek yoghurt etc in for you to grab if you’re feeling peckish. Exercise can be built up. Start walking instead of driving if you can. Set yourself a minimum number of steps per day. Have you got a fitness watch? I love mine for tracking my activity
