To want to be able to buy a bra that the underwires don't pop out of??

Basically as the thread title says!
Get a new bra (38D) fits great then low & behold I end up with the underwire popping up during the day!
Are there any decent underwire bras that last?

What dress size are you?

I have 3 fantasie bras that have lasted without underwiring popping through for many years now.

KnittedCardi · 03/11/2024 22:43

My bras literally last for years. I hand wash, and hang to dry. No way would I put a £40 bra in the machine!

I have 4 of these, they're really great quality and no wires popping through. Was delighted to find a black one in my size on discount in Bra Boudoir of Ledbury recently, they are now my favourite bra shop.

Switch to non wired, just as supportive and none of those issues.

Absolutely disagree.

Not sure why no one believes I got properly measured... Measured in a small independent lingerie shop, not M&S.
Am happy the size is right!
Will try to be more diligent on taking them out before tumble dryer, & remind DH too as he does a fair bit of laundry too.

Will look at mesh bags too as some have suggested it might help!

Thanks

Well if you are still putting them in the machine inside a mesh bag you will always have wires that poke out.

Hand wash them and leave to drip dry.

Or else throw your money away.

Because one of the most common causes of wires popping out is an incorrect size (and washing in the machine).

I am assuming if you are a 38D you are a 18/20 dress/top size? Although a 38D is an unusual size when correctly measured.

Try Bravissimo, Fantasy, Freya, Pour Moi, Elomi, Panache. I'm not sure that they go down to a D cup as they are know for larger cup sizes but worth a try.

ssd · 04/11/2024 09:30

Actually if you are a 38b you would probably get away with out an underwire and you can chuck those in the machine

Tell us you don't have big boobs without telling us...

DiscoBeat · 04/11/2024 09:42

I hate under wires. I switched to non wire and non padded bras a couple of years ago and wish I'd done it years ago!

Futurethinking2026 · 04/11/2024 09:49

If you genuinely are a 38D, then your boobs are pretty much non existent. If this is not the case then you are likely not that size.

I used to have this issue wearing cheap (asda) not fitted bras.

Bravissimo fitted bras last 2-3 years now (thats pretty much constant wear as only have 2-3 every day bras). I take them in the shower and hand wash them in there.

I really don't get the hate for underwiring. If the bra fits right then you shouldn't be aware of it? But you mention padded bras so I expect we are very different sizes, lol! I'd love to be able to wear those pretty bralettes but at at 32J I need scaffolding underwiring Grin

nutbrownhare15 · 04/11/2024 09:50

This has happened to me occasionally. I now snip both wires out and just wear without.

LoobyDoop2 · 04/11/2024 09:51

If you tumble dry things, they won’t last. It’s as simple as that.

oviraptor21 · 04/11/2024 09:53

DinosaurMunch · 22/10/2024 22:11

I've never had this. Buy mine from m and s. Mind you the sizes in there are ridiculous nowadays. Really inconsistent and they don't do 32F in most of the bras which is a perfectly average size

That's because 32F is not an average size in old terms and M&S (thankfully) still go with more traditional sizing metrics.

brownbeauty80 · 04/11/2024 09:55

If u press the spin button on ur washing machine for extra squeezage then make sure u take the bra's out first

SpunkyKoala · 04/11/2024 10:05

Yeah this happens to me with M&S bras they’ve changed the material that they use to mount the wire to a soft one and its shit - I know I’m wearing the right size and I’ve only had this with M&S and only in the last 2 years before that they lasted ages looking at the wires they aren’t as tipped as they used to be they used to have a substantial blob of paint on the end now it’s much smaller and thinner

Ugh no. I can't bear non wired bras. They give me a monoboob and shapeless.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 05/11/2024 23:33

I’ve been wearing underwired bras for 40 years and never once has a wire escaped.
