To miss this NHS hospital appointment?

Ds (15) had a lump on his inside finger near the base, It was pea-sized, hard and painless. I took him to the GP, who seemed to think it was caused by gaming (well, first he asked about piano, but ds doesn't play), which was embarrassing and quite surprising as, while he plays a fair bit, I do insist on breaks/other activities and tech off from 10pm, so he's not on it all day/night.

Anyway, the GP made a referral and the appointment is tomorrow - GP appointment was 6 months ago. I reminded ds yesterday that he finally has the hospital appointment and he said, 'oh, that lump has gone.' I checked and it has indeed. It is no longer visible and, if compared to the other hand you can feel 'something' there, but nowhere near the extent that it was.

What would you do? Is it a total waste of time to attend now? Obviously it's too late to cancel and have them off the appointment to someone else. Don't want to waste anyone's time (including ours - it'll be a couple of hours out of the day) but not sure whether it should be seen...though there's nothing to really see...

Get it checked.

I'd go and get it checked. You'd kick yourself if it got big again and you hadn't checked it.

At this point I'd still go. You say that you can still feel something, and it's probably too short notice for them to fill the slot with another patient. I hope it all turns out ok.
