To ask if anyone has ever cured their fatigue?

Tale old as time, but I, like most mums I think, am just feeling so sleep deprived all the time. I sleep at least 8 hours per night, don't drink, have really improved my diet in the last 6 months, and I exercise. I don't exercise as much as I should, gym twice a week maybe, I'm just too tired! Nap maybe twice a week. Blood tests all normal. Have cut out caffeine too. Any suggestions?

Nope, I'd love to know the answer. According to the DIY blood test kits I am anemic, according to the GP I am 'boarder line' so they wont treat. I'm now buying iron supplements to see if that helps.

Do you know what your actual blood results were as often the cut off point for the NHS to say you have a problem can be at a point where you may be symptomatic.

Feckinlego · 21/10/2024 11:24

All blood tests completely normal, unfortunately!

Cutting out carbs really helps me, I'm not very good at starting but after a couple of weeks I feel like a new woman 😂

Redro · 21/10/2024 11:27

Magnesium supplements have helped me.

NHS normal and what your body really needs are totally different. What were the lab ranges and result for your B12 and ferritin?

Right now I am on some high potency Vit B tablets. It used to take me three days to clean my bedroom due to pain and fatigue. Now I can do it in one morning, and my energy levels are still improving. The difference in only two months (one packet) is quite horrifying actually considering I've been like this for years and all my bloods have been "normal".

RareitySparkles · 21/10/2024 11:46

How normal is normal bloods? Check the vit d one and iron stuff. It can be fine, within range AND far too low

TeamPlaying · 21/10/2024 11:46

Do you snore? Has your GP ruled out sleep apnea?

biscuitandcake · 21/10/2024 11:50

How dark is the room you sleep in? You could try an eye mask

SometimesMaybe · 21/10/2024 11:52

magnesium and high strength vitamin d supplements. Are you perimenopausal? HRT might help.
i think getting older just means that you are tired more often.
My energy levels are very closely aligned to my cycle - some days/weeks I have no energy so I am kind to myself and just do what I can.

Feckinlego · 21/10/2024 12:46

Thanks for replies. Haven't got blood test results to hand but gp said they were really good so I took her at her word. I did try magnesium for a while. I take vitamin d religiously and I'm on hrt. Not sure if there's an actual reason or if it's just lack of motivation. But I'm asleep in seconds when I go to bed

Hey there,
for a good take on low mood, take a look at Georgia Ede on youtube, or read her book. She analyses the link between diet and mental health really well, and goes on specify a brain healthy diet. It really helped me.

One other thing that helped my fatigue, was adding more dietary fat. I am talking double cream as a snack, and coconut oil in coffee amounts of fat. Much more energy, better mood and sleep.

Best of luck!

Would you mind sharing which Vit B tablets these are? I’ll try anything! X

Do you snore - asking more about Sleep apnea.

My Dad issue but NHS never really bothered with even when he lost the weight - the problem persisted but they still weren't interested in.

It's unlikely but worth mentioning I thought.

I was absolutely on my knees with exhaustion All bloods normal. Then I started these supplements and they are life changing. I take two per day and two of their multivitamins. The only drawback (?!) is that I seem to need less sleep.

There are two very similar looking packets so make sure it has the words high potency on it. Just a warning, your pee might turn highlighter bright yellow but that's because you are excreting the excess. Scared me at first 😂 I hope these help you too.

A multi vitamin daily. I like the gummy ones.

HappyMuma · 21/10/2024 19:58

I know it sounds like an easy fix but a decent multi vitamin helped me. I was getting to the stage where I needed a nap by lunch time, all bloods were normal though. But I think, what is a general normal and what is your personal normal can be different.

lesstalkingmorelistening · 21/10/2024 20:08

Beef liver capsules have been amazing for me, no more midday slump!

brusselsprout5 · 21/10/2024 20:14

I went gluten free, not easy as I had to cut out bread, cakes, doughnuts etc. Now I only need 7 hours sleep. Wasted half my life sleeping & now I'm fine. I noticed within a few days. So worth trying perhaps?

I used to fall asleep putting my son to bed. I was exhausted and I would be out like a light in seconds. The problem was, even though I was falling asleep instantly it wasn't high quality sleep because I was squished on the side of his bed (or in a chair beside it) and he needed a nightlight so the room wasnt even dark. So it became a vicious circle where I wasn't sleeping well so I was more tired the next night so I'd fall asleep with the light on/not in bed so id be more tired. I have also "just laid on my bed for a minute to rest" with the lights on and woken up at 2 am still with the lights on in my clothes.
I think even if you are falling asleep right away, it's possible that things like lighting etc (when sleeping or right before bed) could be affecting how good the sleep actually is. Quality is as important as quantity

AlderGirl · 21/10/2024 21:08

IIt’s not the most obvious thing, but If fatigue is creeping in the later stages of the day it might be worth getting your eyesight checked. If they aren’t corrected to the right vision, they will be working much harder and it will be hard to keep your eyes open.
