Which half of the bagel is best?

Just made bagels for breakfast. By which I mean I toasted shop bought not that I baked my own. I always eat the top half first because the bottom half is nicest so I save that for last. My family all think this is strange behaviour because the top half is better in their opinion. But even though I'm outnumbered by them 3:1 I've come straight here to see if IABU to believe I'm right?

I know there's no actual right or wrong here but come on, surely the bottom half of a bagel is really most people's favourite?

Depends on the item. Most things the bottom is the best. Bagels, baguette, rolls. But muffins the top is best. Same for something like a cheese scone, top is best, because it has all the extra cheese.

I eat bagels as a sandwich mostly, so don't really care
if they're seeded the top half with seeds on

There are two halves, so one is better not best or nicer not nicest.

Can't you swap your bagel tops for their bottoms and thus you each have your favourite part times two. Sounds like the ideal marriage!

I like the top .. only because I buy the ones with sesame seeds on the top .. I want one now

Top half. Dh prefers the bottom half though so it works great.

Sorry OP, I’ve come on to proclaim allegiance to the top half of the bagel! But not the supermarket variety….home made or from the proper bagel shops only, please 😀

Er, no, they're not stale bread. Far from it.

OP - I like sesame bagels, so obviously the top half is the best because that's where the sesame seeds are.

I swear the Krisproll packets they send to the UK have more tops than bottoms - they keep the nicer halves for themselves (I would!) 😂

The other week I found some pumpkin flavoured bagels and bought them in a moment of weakness. Surprisingly delicious, but can’t see them anywhere now. 🙁

my best breakfast this year was a toasted sesame bagel with cream cheese and HUGE fresh Kent cherries. Wonderful. So good I ate it twice, then ran out of cherries.

I prefer bottom to top

Eaten like a sandwich is best, so both at once.

Top. Chewy and delicious.

In general the bottom half is better, unless of course it's something with a nice topping such as cheese scones.
