to ask if anyone has ever felt so aggrieved by their employer that they’ve played them at their own shitty game…?

I know I’m probably being unreasonable but our company (think massive and tech) has made millions and millions in profit this year. My salary has not changed for two years now despite being paid modestly for what I do.

They’ve changed the bonus scheme last minute, made life hell for women on mat leave, women are paid hugely less than men and it’s been an actual reported issue.. it’s been awful. I’ve stayed because the area I work in is niche and yes I could find another job but I don’t want to rock the boat while my child is still so young.

I feel so trapped by this (yes I can leave but as a new ish mother that’s not easy or quick). Next year while I look for another job I intend to use all sick leave up, go off sick for a chunk of time, have my child at home half a day a week to save on nursery (like all the male managers do when it’s school holidays!), say I can’t travel in due to ill health and get gp note to back this up… stuff like this. Am I insane for wanting to do this? Do people do this? I am surprised how angry I feel about it but it all feels so unjust

Do you want a decent reference though?

I think I there's a lot to be said for rise above it, don't sink to their level, get out asap.

If you genuinely think they are screwing over women, go through the right channels and contact Pregnant then Screwed for free advice. Get them to correct it, or at least have them spend some time defending themselves.

I’m just exhausted. I don’t want to fight them so I will leave. But it will take time

What's your sick pay policy like? Would you be paid for long?

The best solution all round is to stand up for yourself in terms of treatment towards women/maternity etc. to walk away is to let them get away with it! Pregnant then screwed is a great starting point.

If you feel this is causing you stress you could get a GP sign off to reflect as such.
