I found a lump on my breast and went to have it checked. They took a biopsy and an appointment was made for me to go back and get my results.
i got the letter for the follow up appointment but i also got a letter for another appointment at a different breast clinic a week after the follow up appointment. This made me feel worried. AIBU to think that’s not good? The person on the phone couldn’t explain why thst has happened so i need to wait to speak to the consultant.

I think if it was bad news they would call you back in straight away, i.e. not wait for the appointment

Ohthatsabitshit · 16/10/2024 22:37

I’d feel worried too

BabyCloud · 16/10/2024 22:43

It’s natural to be worried.
Best of luck to you.

What is the other breast clinic? Usually it says on the letter which department the appointment is for. That might give you some insight. X

Ime (Merseyside and have been a patient in hospitals within a 20 mile radius) the NHS moves exceptionally fast if there’s a problem. The Trusts here are outstanding.
Query it to put your mind at rest.

The second letter is from the breast clinic at another hospital and a different consultant - under specialism for the consultant it says ‘general surgery’

They didn’t end up doing a mammogram at the previous appointment because I would have been too sore from the biopsy so Im wondering if this was to tick that off but would you see a consultant for that?

IME you know very quickly if there is a problem. When I found a lump, I had a mammogram, an ultrasound and a biopsy all on the same day. Then they made me a cup of tea and took me to a side room to wait until the doctor could see me. That was the point at which I knew it was cancer - if it had been nothing I'm sure I'd have been sent back out to the waiting room ! But I definitely was told the same day. They said it needed to be confirmed by the biopsy results but they were very sure about it.

Whenever I see the specialist nurse I’m under it is always referred to as ‘General Surgery’ on the appointment letter.

Usually there is consultants contact details on the letter. You may be able to contact their secretary.
