To think these cholesterol values are very bad?

AtDeathsDoor · 14/10/2024 22:32

Cholesterol level 8.26 mmol/L
LDL cholesterol level 6.04 mmol/L
HDL cholesterol level 1.27 mmol/L
non HDL cholesterol level 6.99 mmol/L
cholesterol/HDL ratio 6.5 mmol/mmol

Should I be seriously worried about these values?
I’m ok about dropping down dead but I don’t want to be incapacitated
I’m mid fifties and obese.

I’ll share a little story @AtDeathsDoor I have issues with food (much improved now). Once I visited my adult daughter. She was trying to be supportive and kind and made me lots of nutritious food.

This bothered me so much and triggered a craving. When she went out, I nipped up the road to the chippy and hid round the corner, stuffing chips in my face. I felt so ashamed, but it brought me to my senses a bit as I thought ‘I don’t want this for myself.’

I share this just to reassure you that you’re not alone, you’re not some kind of weirdo and you can love yourself.

Thanks for sharing that @Apolloneuro
I’m glad you are doing better now.
This thread and all the lovely comments have inspired me to make some changes.

Baby steps xx

AtDeathsDoor · 16/10/2024 20:50

Today I have had :-

M&S crab linguine ready meal (already had this and it had reached sell by date)

1/2 Co-op coffee and walnut cake (already had this too. I won’t buy anymore sweet stuff)

4 easy peeler satsumas

I know it’s not good but slightly better than normal. I’ve bought some more M&S ready meals and microwaveable veg and fruit today.

Wean yourself off the fizzies, darling. Not good for your tum.

Mine is as high as you and I'm below 25BMI, walk, train and eat super healthy. Mine is genetically driven and I've been tested from a young age, most of my family are small petite with medicated high cholesterol and heart issues.

You've had some lovely advice and super supportive posts and well done for posting.

I just wanted to let you know that it can be a mixture of genetics and lifestyle so don't beat yourself up. But I think you will find your way.

Hi @greenrollneck, sorry to hear that yours is genetically driven. You must get frustrated to hear about others causing their issue by abusing their own bodies.

I have been really touched by the lovely, supportive posts on this thread. It is surprising how much impact the kindness of strangers can have and I am very grateful xx
