Does anyone feel awkward having no plans

Does anyone else find this awkward?
I have people ask me if I’m up to anything nice or if I did anything nice at the weekend. I try give a cheerful answer but I have absolutely zero money to do anything. I just about cover basic living costs. I know I shouldn’t be annoyed, it’s normal conversation, but I feel awkward not having an answer.

I get what you mean 😂. My boss at work always asks my plans for the weekend and I am very very rarely doing anything interesting. We have kids 6 and 2 so it’s normally ferrying them to activities. Everyone else does more exciting things

You are uncomfortable because it's not a choice. Choosing to do things always feels better, it being thrust upon us - not so much.

However, there are lots of free things you could be doing if you are literally just sat at home.
Nature reserve and take packed lunch and flask
Art galleries and Museums
Very cheap days at the cinema if there's on offeror use Tesco points
Local library to get a new book out
Find local walks and do a bit each weekend for longer trails.
Volunteer a your local theatre as an usher and get to watch shows alongside telling people to stop filming.

Eventbrite is great for finding free things.

Although I drive if its just me going Ill often bus into the city as it's only £4 return opposed to driving and parking and although it's a longer journey I get to read on the bus which is awin but it's a good way of keeping the cost down too.

Do you have the opportunity to make some extra cash on the weekends perhaps? Obviously may not be possible eg childcare but if I wanted to have extra cash I might look at some weekend work.

I rarely do anything as my DD21 is rarely able to leave the house due to severe anxiety (and we are skint but that’s not the main reason). Every Monday in the office we have a long run down of Charity events and days out with extended family, weekends in Paris etc from a few very popular members of staff. Everyone’s stopped asking me 🤷‍♀️
