Will employers be put off?

Hi,
I hope it's OK to message on this board.
Background: I have a finance Background but during maternity leave and in the throws of motherhood I've got into birth , maternity, breastfeeding and newborn photography. I've had clients , a website and all that jazz. I am also a birth doula.
It just doesn't pay the bills unfortunately so I need to make my way back into accounting /finance.
If an employer searched me they would definitely find my website and social media which shows nudity and nipples. Real and raw motherhood- I call it art.
But as an employer would this put you off? I don't want to delete all my social media profiles while I take a break from births and build up my finance career- I would still like to do some photography on the side related to motherhood. I only ask this as I know sadly the vast majority of people seem to think the female body is offensive and rude etc etc etc
Aibu to want it all?!

Part of me wonders if an employer felt this way then they might not be the right company for me to work for. But at this stage I can't be picky!

I think the fact that you're asking means you know it would put some people off, it's whether you're bothered by that and need to change the website that is the question.

coffeeafter · 14/10/2024 09:37

How long ago were you last in finance?

GOODCAT · 14/10/2024 09:37

Don't worry about it, just apply and see what happens. Plenty of people take detours during their career.

coffeeafter · 14/10/2024 09:38

what kind of level of job are you hoping to get?

unless senior, i really doubt they’ll be researching you

coffeeafter · 14/10/2024 09:40

what job were you in when you are were talking about the maternity grievance an “employee” had?

I mean nipples. Female nipples
Do people find mens nipples offensive?

I remember writing In about a colleague and a grievance if that's what you're referring to

So what industry were you in then?

how long have you been out of financial services?

They won’t give a toss then because they won’t bother researching you

coffeeafter · 14/10/2024 09:47

Don’t start spouting though what you have on this thread though!

Viviennemary · 14/10/2024 09:47

I don't know how many employers would search for profiles. I wouldn't approve of nude pictures.

Waiting9 · 14/10/2024 09:48

Honestly I think you should separate the two. I don’t have anything against art or maternity photoshoots but I think negative inferences could be drawn from someone posting nude images online with certain jobs.

I work in public sector for example and my employer would probably take a dim view of nudity being associated with my name, not necessarily just due to the nudity. It might cast doubt on your decision making in having it public and the fact it’s your business too.

it’s just a wild card factor that they’d presumably wish to avoid

lululu16 · 14/10/2024 09:49

Thank you for your replies, I will separate the two just in case
