Do you walk alone at night?

I love walking for fitness and relaxation.
Now the nights are drawing in I’m wondering if I should use the treadmill at the gym instead.
Obviously I want to continue going for walks but don’t want to feel unsafe as that defeats the object of walking being for mindfulness.
Just want to know how common/uncommon walking alone in the dark is.

Yes, I’m out walking all hours. I have a dog with a sensitive stomach so I have been out walking him anytime from 1am to 6am. If I‘m out with friends I’ll take the metro home and then walk the last bit, even if it’s 1-2am. I have just decided not to be scared even though I was attacked once years ago, that was 8.30am though and broad daylight.

I do, I walk along the streets with my dog when it's dark and never felt unsafe. I wouldn't walk in the park or down alleyways though.
It is rubbish that women are restricted like this though, I did couch to 5K a couple of years ago this time of year and was telling DH it was getting tricky and to find a route as the nights were drawing in because I didn't want to run anywhere too quiet in the dark but running along the road also felt unsafe - hadn't even occurred to him to have to plan running routes with personal safety in mind!

Yes. I live in London suburbs and have always felt comfortable walking alone at night.

I live on the edge of a very rural village and really like going out late at night to take the dog for one last spin before bed. It's very quiet and calm, and I enjoy the night air and random encounters with wildlife. I do wear a hi-vis because of lack of pavements. I never feel unsafe (except when a lorry unexpectedly roars down a lane too narrow for it, and I have to jump into the hedge). Where I walk there are plenty of houses and if anything happened the whole village would tip out at the first scream, if only because the nosy buggers want to find out what's going on.

I refuse to not walk places in the dark alone solely because I'm female.

Yes, when I need to get somewhere.

But I wouldn't "go for a walk" particularly as you added 'for mindfulness' as it isn't relaxing or calming walking in the dark.
